(Is this the right venue for such an issue? If not, would someone mind adding where IS?)

Ridley Scott, 2012:

Under goof listings, "continuity," is incorrectly (paraphrased) that "the surgical 'claw' lowering into Elizabeth Shaw's belly changes while lowering, from opening to closing and back to closed again above her abdomen," but the observation is completely incorrect.

Being a medical professional, I was very impressed at Ridley Scott's portrayal of the medical bay and I wanted him recognized for it and not dissed by such a lazy remark. His insight into nearly 75 years in the future was damn good and he deserves to get the credit.

What IS lowering is not a "claw" (which, to me, implies teeth or jagged edges) but your basic pair of medical forceps, slightly more "streamlined" for futuristic appeal; entirely appropriate equipment for such an advanced medical device, which is more than possible in that time frame.

As for the magically reclosed forceps, they have NOT closed back up, they have ROTATED by 90± degrees.

In the first frame, the forceps begin to move in an anti clockwise direction, in the next frame they are seen, they have CONTINUED to rotate along the horizontal and only APPEAR closed due to the roundness of those streamlined grippers.

Capisce? Che è buono?

Thank you for your attention

You have the option of submitting a correction through the update forms, either by deleting the goof or changing the category to "Incorrectly regarded as goof". If you give a good explanation, the correction will be considered by the relevant editor.

It's fine to ask here, and staff may also post a reply, but it probably won't get a correction made.

I agree with Peter.

If you think it's wrong you can 'fix' it yourself. I can't check it myself as I don't have a DVD/Blu-ray copy at hand so I'm not going to make the change myself....
...but here is a step by step 'Howto'...

1.) Get an IMDb account (the free one is good enough) if you haven't one yet or login using your existing account.
2.) Go to
3.) Click 'Edit' at the top right corner
4.) In the 'Goofs' row select 'Correct / Delete' from the Dropdown List of options
5.) Click the yellow 'Continue' button below (bottom left corner)
6.) On the next page you will see all goofs for the 'When the surgical claw is lowering into Elizabeth Shaw's belly....' and select 'Delete' from the Dropdown list in front of this entry to make this go away.
7.) Click the yellow 'Check these updates' button below (bottom left corner)
8.) You should be asked again if your are sure that the entry should be deleted which you can confirm (if you are sure that this change is correct).
9.) Wait several days/weeks (depends on the entries that need to be processed) until one of the editors reaches your entry to verify and accept the changes.
