Problems updating credits on animated film "Revengeance"

I am the co-director of the animated film "Revengeance" - my office manager is having trouble adding two actors to the credits for the film.  These actors (Matthew Modine and his daughter, Ruby Modine) were initially uncredited but now we would like to add them to the IMDB credits list.  My office manager has tried several times but the additions keep getting rejected.

The latest contribution ID number is 190412-194231-041000.  Matthew Modine happens to be a producer on the film and a friend of mine.  He voiced a character with a few lines as a favor to me, and I would like to see him receive proper credit in return.

We don't know WHY the updated credits keep getting rejected.  What materials can we supply to prove that he voiced a character?  Would a statement from him, or the film's other producers, or me as the director, help make this possible?

I am an independent animation director, and my films are made outside the usual Hollywood system, and I have found it difficult to work with SAG - so there is not the same sort of physical proof when I employ actors, but I would love for my office manager (John Holderried) to be instructed on how to properly prove that these two actors voiced characters in my feature film.

He can be reached by e-mail at:  john@plymptoons.com  and would love to learn why our credits submissions are being rejected and how to fix this problem.

Thanks,

Bill Plympton

E-mails are unnecessary (you may want to remove that if you consider that a private info), since IMDb won’t send any e-mails (things are slightly different if you send them questions via IMDb help desk).

First of all, since Mr. Modine and his daughter are uncredited, you need to submit the credit with the attribute ”(uncredited)”. Without that attribute, these won’t be accepted.

Proof can be tricky sometimes, but you could add some scenes (from the film feat. Modine) to sites like Dropbox and send a link to the IMDb data editors via IMDb help desk:
https://help.imdb.com/contact
( You need to choose ”IMDb fan/contributor questions” and ”Filmography credits”, and then ”Provide credit evidence”. )

We did submit the credits using the (uncredited) attribute each time. The submissions  were still rejected, 4 or 5 times now.  But thank you for your other suggestion, if we are contacted by the IMDB data editors we will try this.

Other thing obviously could be IMDb’s policy that ”uncredited” voice actors are not necessarily accepted. But I would say that this has a fairly good chance.

”They must have received an on-screen credit (i.e. no uncredited performances).”

Yes, you're right, they got a "Special Thanks To" credit at the end of the film.  IMDB approved the third uncredited actor with no problems, but for some reason got stuck on adding these two.  Submitting a screen-shot of the "Special Thanks" credit is a great idea, and we can also submit screen-shots of checks since they were both paid for their voice contributions.  Thank you so much for the advice, and the links to the page where we can e-mail the IMDB editors directly and offer to submit evidence, this has been very helpful.

Hi William -

As Eboy mentioned above, uncredited Voice credits are generally ineligible to be listed, however, we occasionally make rare exceptions for 'voice cameos' by high-profile actors (in this case Mr. Modine would be considered 'high-profile', though unfortunately Ms. Modine would not be eligible).

If you have evidence to help verify Mr. Modine's voice participation on this project, please post the links and/or screen grabs here and our staff will take a look.

Dear Michelle,

thank you for your response.  I also left a detailed message on the contact page about this, but I'm afraid I must have misstated the issue, and the rep who responded (Jaime) misunderstood the problem, and thought I was trying to make uncredited credits into credited ones.  We would love to have these actors credited on IMDB, but with the (uncredited) attribute, which is fine.  There were really THREE actors who did cameos, for some reason the (uncredited) credit for Dave Foley posted fine on IMDB, but the other two did not.

You can see here on the film's Full Credits page that Dave Foley is listed as (uncredited) for his role, this is the same type of listing that we would like to have for Matthew Modine and Ruby Modine, but our updates keep getting declined. I would argue that Ruby is fast becoming a high-profile actress, thanks to her appearances on the TV show "Shameless".

I'm going to try to post screen shots here, also some links to a couple of articles which will prove Matthew Modine's participation as a voice actor. Here goes -

The images below (which I hope you can see) are from the closing credits of the film - this all came about because we did not get approval from SAG to qualify as a low-budget feature (the last time we worked with union actors on a feature, they granted us an exception to qualify) so negotiations with SAG broke down, but we still wanted to find a way to use these actors' voices, without getting them into trouble.  So it's my fault, I chose to make the film with mostly non-union actors and my co-director, Jim Lujan, ended up supplying a lot of the voices.

You'll see from the contribution history of my office manager that he's made several attempts to get Matthew and Ruby credited with the (uncredited) attribute, but they have all been declined for some reason.  The latest attempt had this reference number: 190412-194231-041000

My offer to produce cancelled checks to prove that I paid Matthew and Ruby Modine for their time would be to support their inclusion on IMDB as (uncredited) actors, not credited ones.  Does this make sense?

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the further clarification and links you've provided! The credit for Matthew should be live on the site shortly.
