Problem: Difficulty replacing TV Episode Poster Image

My client has a TV series with 26 episodes. Several of the poster images for these episodes look bad and are not representative of the respective content, so I am trying to replace them with more fitting choices. I have followed the instructions to upload new images as posters, but when I try to make one of them the primary image for a particular episode, I am only given the option of making it the primary image for the entire season.

In the episode at the following link, for example, I would like to replace the current primary image (an animation of a basketball player with text that is cut off) with the photo of Rick Fox that appears in the photos below it. He is the star guest of that episode and would be far better fitting.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10348912/?ref_=tt_eps_cu_n

When I try to edit the tags to the Rick Fox photo, I only see the option of making it the primary series photo, which would not be correct. I just need it to be the primary photo for Episode 26.

I have multiple other examples just like this. Can someone help me troubleshoot? And is it possible to actually speak to a live human?

At this point, I would almost rather delete all of the individual episode photos that were added so far and start over, though I know that's not an option.

Please help! And thank you in advance.

Hi Kristien -

This is a little complicated, so bear with me.

Using the title and primary image example you referenced, the reason you were not able to set the preferred image as the Primary poster was because the image was listed as a "Poster" image, for episode titles we only allow Still frame images to be displayed as the primary.  With that being said, the pre-existing primary for this episode title was a poster image, this image was automatically selected as the Primary because we didn't yet have any Still frame images for this episode.

I have now corrected the Image types (changing them from 'poster' to 'still frame') and selected your preferred image as the primary which is now displaying on the episode: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10348912/?ref_=tt_mv_close

For the other episode titles where you are experiencing the same problem, you will first need to review the images and determine if there are images incorrectly marked as Posters, you can easily identify these by looking at the photo gallery on the title page, on the right-hand side of the page you will see a "Refine All Photos By" box which will show you what images are still frames and what images are posters:

Unfortunately, we don't yet have the option in the Report form to correct an image type, so you will need to request a manual fix of the images through our Contact Form following the path: IMDb Fan/Contributor questions > Images & video > Title page images > Image deletions/tag updates and include the IMDb link to the image with your report and our support team will take a look.  Alternatively, if you uploaded the images initially, you can report them and request a removal, upon removal you can then re-upload them with the correct image type.

Once the episode title image is correctly listed as a Still Frame you will then see the option to set the image as a Primary in the 'Edit Tags' report form.

Let us know if you encounter any difficulty correcting these images or have any further questions!

Michelle, this was so helpful -- thank you very much! Unfortunately, the rest of the episodes (25 in total, now that you've fixed Episode 26) have the same problem. I need to remove the images incorrectly submitted as posters and resubmit the correct ones as still frames. Can this be done in one request? Or does it have to be requested for each of the remaining 25 episodes individually? My team did make the initial submissions. Please let me know and we'll proceed accordingly. Again, thank you!

Hi Kristien -

Each photo report will need to be submitted individually (so you would essentially be submitting 25 separate reports).  The report form itself is fairly quick and straight-forward, although there isn't a deletion option listed for this particular case, so when you select the reason for your report, also make sure to include a detailed explanation about why you are making your request for our editors to review.

Let us know if you have any other questions or encounter issues with the Report form!

Thanks, Michelle. Figured as much, though I was hopeful there might be an easier, less tedious way. That said, knowing I will have to explain the situation further, which of the following reason options would you suggest?

Duplicate
Inappropriate
Incorrect name or title
Not relevant
Poor Quality
Copyright

None of them really fits, but perhaps one is less likely to be flagged/ignored than the others?

Again, appreciate your help with this!

Hi Kristien,

Thanks for your response!

You should be okay to use the 'Duplicate' reason when deleting the images, as long as you include a comment in your deletion reason to explain why you are doing so - an editor should be OK to approve the request.

Feel free to also include a URL to this conversation along with your submission.

Let us know if you experience any issues.
