Private viewing notes

Let users add private notes to films they see. I like to keep keep track of additional information when I rate a film, e.g. where I saw it, or a more detailed rating (8.4). Right now, I export to excel and added the notes (but currently export not working). These aren't the types of notes useful to share but would make IMDB the best tool to track films one sees.

You can already do this by creating a private list and adding comments to the films on that list.

1. Click on Account in the upper right corner of an IMDb page.
2. Click on "View your lists" in the "History" column or "Update your lists" in the "Personalize" column. This will bring you to "Your Lists" page.
3. Click the "Create a new list" link in the upper right corner of "Your Lists" page. This will bring you to the "Create a List" page [http://www.imdb.com/list/create]
4. Create your list and change list settings to make your list private.

Thanks.
Is there a way to do something like that on my ratings list?

Unfortunately, IMDb current does not allow you to directly edit your ratings list or watch list.

You can, however, create a private list and copy your ratings list to that private list.

1. Create the private list. Let's call this list my_private_ratings
2. Go your ratings page: Click Account in the upper right corner of an IMDb page, which will bring you to your Personal page [https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb...].
3. Click on "View your ratings history" in the "History" column. This will bring you to your ratings history.
4. Click the third box to the right of View, to get the compact view.
5, Select the films you want to copy.
6. Select the my_private_ratings from the drop down menu and click go.

I would like the ability to add a mini-review to my ratings - if you make them public then that'd work well with the rating list, you could use it to explain why you rated things that way.

Thanks. Is there a way to add a film to a list directly from the main film page or do I have to go to the list first. I know there is a feature like that in the app.

If you have a yellow button labeled "Watchlist", you can already directly add a film to a list directly from the film's main page. Click the downward arrow; a list of your lists will be displayed. You can only choose a list with a + in front of it. A check mark indicates that the film is already in the list. Click the list you wish to add the title to; you should a get brief message telling you that it has been copied.

If you do not have a yellow button labeled "Watchlist", you will have to go to your user preferences.

1. Click "Account" in the upper right of the page. This will bring you to your personal page.
2. Click "Update your site preferences" in the "Personalize" column.
3. Uncheck "Always display full cast and crew credits" and click the yellow "Update" button.

This still could be very cool feature. I'm a constant rater and I'd love to add few private words about movie right with the rate.
