Share site preferences with the apps

The site preferences of the imdb website are not applied to the app. The one the irritates the most is that all titles that an actor has appeared in are thrown in one giant heap. I am mainly interested in actual movies. I am a lot less interested in seeing every tv episide that an actor has ever made a guest appearance in. And I am not interested at all in what voice acting an actor did for about 100 different video games. The site preferences of the website let you filter these things, so you can choose to only see the list of actual movies that an actor appeared in, and the tv and game stuf will be in separate lists. I am logged in and have the setting on, but the setting is not working in the app. I see an overabundance of info that is not about movies and I have look through lists of 150 to 200 titles to look for the actual movies.

- Go to imdb.com (the website, not the app).
- Log in, click the arrow next to your name in the top right corner -> Site Settings
- Update general site references
- Un-Check the box "Display credits separately for Movie and TV"
- Submit
- Go to the page about actor "George Clooney"
- You will see that under filmgraphy there are only 9 categories: Actor (76 credits), Producer (34 credits), Director, Writer etc. etc.
Most important here is that everything he ever did as an actor (all 76 credits) are thrown together in a single category.

- Go back to Update general site references
- This time Check the box "Display credits separately for Movie and TV"
- Submit
- Go to the page about actor "George Clooney"
- You will see that under filmgraphy there are now as many as 25 categories: Actor: Movie (43 credits), Actor: TV (29 credits), Actor: Short (2 credits), Actor: Video (2 credits), Producer: Movie (23 credits), Producer: TV (7 credits) etc. etc.
Note that with this setting real movies are grouped separately from the TV series appearance that he did as an actor. So if I'm trying to look up what movies I might know George Clooney from, I now do not have to look at his 29 credits as a TV actor.

For George Clooney, the 29 TV credits may not be a problem to you. For "Morgan Freeman", the list is reduced from 120 general actor credits to 82 credits in Actor: Movie and 30 credits in Actor: TV. For "Sean Bean", the list is reduced from 118 general actor credits to 50 credits in Actor: Movie and 59 credits in Actor: TV and 4 credits in Actor: Video Game etc. etc. Some actors do a lot of TV work and some are surprisingly active as a voice actor for video games.

If you're only looking for movies (and this being the internet MOVIE database, that seems reasonable), this setting makes it a lot easier to actually find movies, instead of having to dig through endless amounts of TV series and video games.

The imdb.com website has this great feature. The app unfortunately does not. And given the design of the app with it already supporting the categories Actor, Director, Producer etc, it does look quite possible to also have the sorted categories Actor: Movie and Actor: TV etc in the app. It's just that the setting "Display credits separately for Movie and TV" is currently not applied to the app.

I think it would be a great improvement if the android app would also support this setting, just like the website. Right now I really miss it.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.  Unfortunately not all features and preferences available on the site are available in the apps.  Your suggestion is a good one so we will move this over to the "Idea" category for future consideration.
