Yes, I heard that!  The Little Mermaid on Shelley Duvall's fairy tale theater was brunette.  With this list, I don't worry about the girl looking the part as far as having red hair.  It helps, but she could always just wear a wig.

I never saw the original, animated 'The Little Mermaid' but kudos on a good list with a great 35-year age range. I can't decide yet who would get my vote but there are good choices. Oh, and I love the title!

Thank you so much!  You probably should see the old Disney Little Mermaid because it is kinda good, but the original Hans Christian Andersen story is way better.  In the 80's, Shelley Duvall's Fairy Tale Theater did the original story and that was actually really great.  There's other versions too and I'm trying to see them all, lol!

Amy Adams would be great, but I think she is a little old for the role. Ariel is young so the actress who portrays her should be under 35 and must have a good singing voice. From these actresses in the list Zendaya seems the best option but I think Anna Kendrick could also be a good Ariel. Great poll!
