These are the Top 25 Sci-Fi Films of the 21st Century according to IndieWire as of May 19th, 2017. Which of these 21st century sci-fi flicks is your favorite?

"Sci-fi isn’t easily defined, but in determining the top 25 sci-fi movies of the last 17 years, we’ve done our best. No fantasy-super hero movies here; for an action, horror, or animated movie to be on this list, it needed to be firmly rooted in sci-fi origins.—IndieWire"

Keep in mind that IndieWire had selected these based on criteria more geared towards hard sci-fi, excluding superhero movies and other sci-fi sub-genres (with some exceptions). The list goes into greater detail. Also, these are 21st century movies only, so don't freak out when Planet of the Apes isn't on there like I did.

Nice list. I haven't seen all, but I'll go with Moon.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen Moon yet, but it's been at the top of my list alongside Duncan Jones' other film, Source Code.

I would second Moon, I was impressed. I think it met a higher standard with a much lower budget.

I watched this Q&A  with the director they had after showing this film to the staff at the NASA Spaceport in Florida, I was impressed that a lot of the concepts and technology he created in the backstory for the film, actually NASA had been working on similar concepts for space colonization.

I'm actually starting to get really hyped for this. I'm trying to subdue expectations so I go in fresh, but it's just getting more and more difficult.

I agree, I prefer low or no expectations. It makes a HUGE difference.

I can still go in with high expectations and get blown away, but it's better to not risk it. I'll aim to have watched it within two weeks. I've got a fat stack of movies by my desk I need to get through first. :P

Great list and nice idea!

So many of my favorite films are in the list..can't really decide.

I might choose the polarizing one- Under The Skin..I loved it!

Hi Sparse, 'very good poll! I have to deliberate a bit before I vote -- 'tough choice. Oh, it's better to not have such a long title so you don't need to include (According to Indie Wire) in the title: Citing in the intro, as you do, is enough. :-)
