Many films he made were utter garbage in terms of the quality, but I commend him for trying different roles. The same with Arnie. However, their comedy efforts are variably hilarious, to being God awful...

Lon Chaney is best known for playing the Phantom of the Opera, and yes, he was the real and roughly the original "man of a thousand faces", before operatives Rollin Hand and Ethan Hunt adopted his game.

Freddy from Copland. I really like Rocky, too, but he didn't get as much acclaim for his portrayal in Copland

I used the same method for making my choice for this thread like I did in the "FAVORITE MOVIE TRILOGY MALE CHARACTER" thread.  I listed Stallone's best roles, IMHO, alphabetically:

A.)Angelo "Snaps" Provolone, from "Oscar(1991)";
B.)Barney Ross, from "The Expendables(2010)";
C.)Deke DeSilva, from "Nighthawks(1981)";
D.)Frank Leone, from "Lock Up(1989)";
E.)Freddy Heflin, from "Cop Land(1997)";
F.)Gabe Walker, from "Cliffhanger(1993)";
G.)Jack Carter, from "Get Carter(2000)";
H.)John Rambo, from "First Blood(1982)";
I.)  John Spartan, from "Demolition Man(1993)";
J.) Joseph Dredd, from "Judge Dredd(1995)";
K.)Kit Latura, from "Daylight(1996)";
L.)Lincoln "Linc" Hawk, from "Over The Top(1987)";
M.)Marion "Cobra" Corbetti, from "Cobra(1986)";
N.)Ray Tango, from "Tango & Cash(1989)";
O.)Rocky Balboa, from "Rocky(1976)"; &
P.) Toymaker, from "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over(2003)"

And then I used the old-fashioned "eeney, neeny, miney, mo" tactic as a process-of-elimination to make my choice, and the winner was....

Sure, I could have just gone ahead and picked either "ROCKY BALBOA" or "JOHN RAMBO", like others on this site probably do, because these characters are top-rated characters.  But, I wanted to be impartial and fair in difference to all of Stallone's other roles that he has portrayed over the years besides "ROCKY" and "RAMBO".

I'm very sorry, Jeorj, but I'm afraid that "STOP! OR MY MOM WILL SHOOT" just didn't work for me, even though I like both "Sly" and Estelle Getty.  As a matter of fact, here's how the movie faired in the IMDd poll with the other Stallone films:

They're very funny (I think, lol) and it's my favorite thing!
I bring it up because you mentioned Over the Top above, and, well...

Hi there, NARNIAISAWESOME, my friend.  Let me first say that it's always a pleasure to me to hear from you.  However,  there is something that I regrettably need to tell you honestly.  Now, I know that you meant well and everything, but I just watched that YOUTUBE video that you sent me of the clip from "OVER THE TOP", with the included MST3K/RIFFTRAX comments, and I'm afraid that I must inform you that I didn't care for it, because I didn't find it very amusing at all.  In fact, if I could think of one word to describe that video clip, it would be "VULGAR".

I'm very sorry, NARNIAISAWESOME.  As I said before, I know that you meant well when you sent that clip to me, and I appreciate it.  And I realize that you probably still think that it's a very funny video, and I do respect that.  I guess that I just have a different kind of sense of humor than yours, which I sincerely hope that you won't hold against me in the near future, you dig?

No need to apologize, that's perfectly fine!  I'm sorry you did not care for it... yeah, I have a pretty narrow sense of humor. :)  Thanks for giving it a try anyway!

You're a 'GOOD SPORT', N.I.A., and that's a very rare commodity in today's society, if you get my drift.
