Regarding box-office grosses and audience interests in the 2010s, movie moguls sure kept watching the stats... producing one instant science-fiction classic after another.
All the following blockbusters, indie movies, remakes and reboots have four things in common: their genre-tags include sci-fi, they're rated higher than 7.5, they have more than 100,000 votes and they were all released at a time where E.T. could iPhone Home, in other words:

Upgrade is twice in your list.
------------------------------------
further suggestions:
Annihilation
Attack the Block
In Time
Men in Black 3
Oblivion
Pacific Rim
Passengers
Paul
Prometheus
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
The Book of Eli
The Lobster
Total Recall
Upside Down
And it's a matter of personal taste, I prefer Thor (all parts) over The Avengers (all except the last one). And what is more preferable: to see such semi-sientific sci-fis separated of the classic science-fiction (but it's a tricky and long debate for years ))).

If IMDb puts them in alphabetical order (Which they do) Sci-Fi will always come in at the 4th position!

Suddenly, I feel so smart.... so it's a matter of alphabetical order, eh?

I guess I'll have to work on that poll a little...

Now that I think about it, the alphabetical order makes the list even more relevant. Indeed, it's interesting that Sci-fi is alphabetically preceded by all the major genres such as Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery... so if Sci-fi ends up in the first three genre tags that it means the film can fairly be regarded as a legitimate sci-fi film and not just a film with sci-fi undertones but that also ventures in the realms of fantasy... Action/Adventure/Comedy is such a classic combo that it makes the sci-fi aspect rather irrelevant... yes, there's sci-fi in The Incredibles but would one label it as a sci-fi film?
I guess I'll keep it that way :)

My example
A little bit of comedy SciFi
Or not so much fun

Just a little more Fun and the.... "Oooh Scary" dreaded "C" word genre tag and....
Presto Chango! It's no longer SciFi anymore??

This is on the SyFy Channel
In the dystopian 27th century, six people wake up on a deserted spaceship with no memory of who they are or what they're doing there. They reluctantly team up and set off to find answers with the help of a female android.
Oops not sci fi! It's not in the first 3?

I've always said the first in the genre tags "Should" be THE main theme and the other tags are supplemental.
Alphabetical does a disservice to the users of the database.
That's me ranting at them not you ElMo!

Don't worry, I wouldn't have taken the "ranting" too personally. You make a valid point but it doesn't really interfere with my views, here's why.
For me, a "sci-fi" movie is what it says it is: fiction driven by science, once it ventures in the realms of fantasy, for me it stops being a sci-fi, fantasy relies on "magical" explanation, not sci-fi, give me a pill that turns someone into a giant, not an elixir.
The alphabetical order might feel a tad arbitrary but it actually helps to show which films are just using sci-fi for a few plot devices and which ones are really using sci-fi as a narrative core, if there's action and adventure, the film can still be sci-fi, if it's a comedy before sci-fi, then obviously science is only an excuse for comedic devices and gags that wound't work otherwise.
Same if it's drama and mystery, the film can still be sci-fi but if it's a horror movie, then science is only here to set up the elements that would then generate the thrills and scares the film is aiming at.
It's just a good thing that sci-fi comes so late in the alphabetical order so that in case of genre-bending movies, we can see if other major genres aren't interfering with the sci-fi aspect, it's not much an issue when it's drama, mystery, action and adventure but not when it comes to horror or comedy.
Anyway, that's how I feel about it :)

If genres are not categorized as principal or secondary, I don't think you should claim in a poll that they are. You could set different criteria.
Two of your titles have dropped below 7.5.
Other titles that could qualify:
Avengers: Endgame
Spider-Man: Far from Home
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
A Quiet Place
About Time

You refer to "three principal genre-tags" like they have a special status.

That's what I said in the beginning but I believe I've changed my mind over the course of the discussion.
(and I realized that the 3 principal genre-tags were just the 1st in alphabetical order so my point was irrelevant)
