These films showed us characters suffering huge breakdowns and as a viewer, we were sucked right into their crumbling worlds along with them. Tense, provoking, mind-bending; these are the best psychological-thriller films of the 2010s.
Which of these 2010s psychological thrillers are you most likely to remember?

Split (2016) probably merits a spot. According to Wikipedia, "Split is a 2016 American psychological horror thriller film written, co-produced and directed by M. Night Shyamalan[4] and starring James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Betty Buckley."
I was nice to see the low-budget indie, Frozen (I) (2010) on the list. I liked how it played on every skier's worst fear.

You're definitely right Urbane. It's been added - and yes! Frozen was awesome; totally makes you want to stay away from the slopes.

Thanks for these suggs NDb! I've added Annihilation and Take Shelter but the others I found stray a little too far away from purely psycho-thriller into other genres like horror or Sci-Fi so I think for the time being I'll keep 'em off. Love BR2049 though!

Fair enough, I will agree with you on BR2049 and Hereditary. 10 Cloverfield Lane still feels like it fits the mold, Goodman did an amazing job.

Adding Joker (2019)!

You should wait to add Joker, it is not even release yet.

If it is a problem, then the poll will not go live until sometime after Joker is released. But does that sound so unpleasant?

Yeah, I think we're good on that.

Hi'ya, Kyle. How are you? Great intro., good poll, good list of several good movies.
My vote: probably 'Nightcrawler' but maybe 'Nocturnal Animals' or "Martha Marcy May Marlene.'

I'm good Ruby! Hope you are doing well :)
Still gotta catch Nocturnal and MMMM but LOVE Nightcrawler; one of the coolest films of this decade IMO.
Thanks so much for the kind words on the poll!

'Red Lights' has a Metacritic rating of 36 and although the IMDb rating is much better, it's not great. 'House at the End of the Street' fares even worse. I think it's a really good list but I'm wondering if some parameters would make it a bit more objective? And getting rid of a few of the more weakly received ones would make room for any others that might be suggested, even after it goes live, perhaps.
This didn't yield much, though: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=2010-01-01,2019-12-31&use...
This may have a few that fit: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=2010-01-01,2019-12-31&use...
FYC:
- Enemy (as psychological of a thriller as there is, perhaps)
- Burning (https://www.npr.org/2018/11/06/662522761/inside-this-deceptively-simple-story-lurks-a-burning-psycho...)
- Personal Shopper (the whole ghost thing is really a metaphor, as I see it, for the questions of identity at the heart of a psychological thriller)
- Border
-Destroyer
-Wakefield (I think it's a psychological thriller but not as much as the above)

Rubes,
Great idea - I think it's good to omit the worse ones of the bunch to save room for a few as you said. I think for now, my parameter will be no thriller less than a 6.4 can qualify but maybe with more time I can cross-reference this with tomatoes/metacritic scores with some kind of weighted average method.
Enemy was already there but I'll add Burning for now before making some final decisions. Thank you as always!

Hahaha, I like "Rubes." It's up there with "Suzy" (Dibby's name for me) and "Fruit" (rocky's name for me). Does Dibyayan have a nickname for you?
Oh, and about the poll: it looks great. Do you consider it to be ready?

I don't really consider it a psychological thriller to be honest. According to wikipedia, it's categorized as a "heist comedy film".

They're good suggestions but I consider them predominantly horror; and I did my best to separate horror films since many of these often fall under the psychological thriller theme.

'Get Out' is a pure psychological thriller! How psychological does it have to get to be psychological enough? It's a psychological crime story with no(!) paranormal or supernatural factors. It simply is a thriller and a crime story built on subliminal racism. And 'We' is as well (without racism, but a little more SciFi like).

Yeah that's a good point I'll probably re-add Get Out I had it initially in there and wanted to wean out horror films but that's a pretty hard one to argue against lol. If I add that then Us probably should be in there too. Thanks.

Thank you for putting them on the list. I still didn't vote, because I'm first watching 'Joker' and then I will decide. This Sunday we got nearly best seats for 'Joker' in the middle to a 20m screen. My expectation grows every day, the trailers are unbearable to me now. :)

I can't vote this poll, it is too hard to pick between Joker and Inception. This is why I would have made this poll 2011 to 2020.

It’s tough because films like Split, Get Out and the Babadook would be popular but might err on the Horror side more than I’d want, deviating away from a “thriller”.
What do you think Groove? Does the current list stay mostly away from horror? If I’ve already listed a few horror-heavy films in my list, I have no problem adding these ^
