Live Poll: Remembering the Summer of Love

In July 2017 we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, a social phenomenon that occurred during the summer of 1967 when mostly young people sporting hippie fashions of dress and behavior, first converged in San Francisco's neighborhood Haight-Ashbury and later in many other places in the US, Canada and Europe.

The hippies, sometimes called flower children, generally opposed the Vietnam War and materialist values of modern life. A few were interested in politics; others were concerned more with art or religious and meditative practices. All were advocating peace and love.

Which movie, taking place against the backdrop of the Summer of Love, is your favorite?

(suggestions are most welcome!)

o.k. leavey...you just made my day...

i lived thru the summer of love and have seen all these films and loved most of them (serpico...the doors...easy rider...pirate radio...i love you alice b. toklas...and just seeing zabriski point on the list made my heart beat a whole lot faster...which won't thrill my cardiologist at all...)

but despite wanting to poster my wall with all of these classics...to narrow it down to my favorite film, i would have to choose 'hair' simply because of annie golden being in it...

but seriously...any one of the ones i mentioned could take a close second...a very cool list indeed...

Listen, U.M., dude.  Please don't be offended by this comment.  I'm only expressing an honest opinion, okey-dokey?  You see, I like Mike Myers and everything.  I think he's pretty amusing and all that.  I remember him from his "Wayne's World" days, after all.  However, I'm not really crazy of his "Austin Powers" persona.  You see, I'm a big fan of the "James Bond" movie saga, and I'm afraid that the "Austin Powers" films that Myers makes a horrible mockery of the "Bond" legend, and I feel strongly that it does his reputation a terrible justice.  But, as I say, this is only my opinion.   You, of course, are entitled to your opinion as well.  If I've offended you in any way, I humbly apologized, and I beg your forgiveness, and I suggest that you don't even have to respond to this comment if you don't wish to.  You can just forget that I even sent it to you, and we can let bygones be bygones and everything, okey-dokey?  Have a nice day, you dig?
