Beloved actor and father Tim Conway passed away on May 14th, 2019 at the age of 85. The former Army veteran, Conway got his start after being spotted by Rose Marie co-star of The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961) got Tim an audition for The Steve Allen Show (1956). That was enough exposure to launch his career in Hollywood. Conway will be best remembered for his work on The Carol Burnett Show (1967), McHale's Navy (1964) as Ensign Charles Parker and most recently on Chip and Bernie Save Christmas with Dorf (2016) as Dorf. But in between those roles he managed to rack up many other memorable appearances. Tim will sadly be missed.
Condolences to the family by all of us here at IMDb .

The mere mention of elephant sketch brings a smile to my face. I clearly picture the conjoined elephants going snert in my mind and wonder how Dick Van Dyke, Vickie Lawrence and Carol Burnett survived the sketch.

I know it's probably not what most people will associate with him, but... he was also great as an obscure DC comics villain The Weeper in "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" episode in 2011.

Definitely The Carol Burnett Show. Growing up, every day right after school, my mother and I would watch re-runs of All in the Family and The Carol Burnett Show. I loved when Conway was so funny that the others couldn't help but to break out of character and laugh.

Bravo, Ed, on a really nice intro.

For "The former Army veteran Conway got his start..." you don't need the comma after Conway unless you also use a comma after veteran, as well.

Took out the comma.
Thanks on the intro writing.
I wrote news copy off the wires for a short time in 1975. (Broadcasting School)
Guess I haven't forgotten how to compose when necessary.
To me he will always be Ensign Charles Parker!!
Cheers!!

A few years ago while visiting a friend with a great cable service, I saw McHale's Navy and he was really funny on that series. Well, I guess he was always funny but that character was definitely entertaining.

Oh, you went to school for broadcasting? That's very cool. My mom always wanted me to do that and I often do wish I was involved with journalism in some way. The intro. is well written but it's not just that: it's also just very sensitive and evocative. 'Respectful and touching.

Shush!!! My Manly Man is not showing!
Also AP and UPI are just facts. No stories.
We were taught story composition.
Reading those compositions aloud was difficult too.
I was doing Ted Baxter before there was a Ted Baxter.
I got laughs when I read the news. That's when I learned that I could make people laugh in Public. Been practicing it ever since. 44 Years. Now I'm in L.A.
Hoping they have open night mike for Senior Citizens.
Hope I can be as good as Tim!!!
Cheers and thanks again.
