As a Dane, I do not acknowledge Finland as the home of Santa Claus, and I do my best to rival their coffee and liquorice intake.

But I do find their long words fascinating.

Jess, I love stuff like this. Perhaps you'd like to add a few more options:

A Finnish idiom "kiertää kuin kissa kuumaa puuroa" which literally translates as "to circle like a cat circles porridge." It means "to constantly and obviously covet something without actually making a move to get it, or to try to approach a difficult topic of speech in a roundabout way."

A Finnish word with no direct word-to-word English translation - "Poronkusema" - the distance a reindeer can comfortably travel before taking a break.  Generally agreed to be 4.7 miles/7.5 km.

Wiki:  In the spirit of the notion of Adolf Ivar Arwidsson (1791–1858), "we are not Swedes, we do not want to become Russians, let us therefore be Finns", the Finnish national identity started to become established. 

Finland's most famous company is Nokia. They started as a pulp mill in 1865 and are currently in telecommunications.

The Finnish composer Jean Sibelius (1865–1957) is a significant figure in the history of classical music.

The first narrative film made in Finland was The Moonshiners, in 1907.
