Forward, has no photo or IMDb page however. There were a lot of interesting Authors and Books that I would have liked to include but they had no IMDb photo on file. What do you think about this poll having a chance at going live with say 10-15 choices with no photos?
Thanks
Ed

But no more. I still adore the novel, but the CGI-worshipping culture, Disney-type "let's play it safe, water it down" attitude, plus spineless producers who change everything according to polls or preview audiences, would ruin it beyond recognition. It would make an amazing film in the 1990's or even early 2000's, but today it would just become one of a thousand CGI-infested third rate stuff that you can't tell from one another.

That's exactly right. I'm almost afraid for some of my favorite stories (mostly fantasy) to be on the big screen now, unless they're foreign, because I can just see how Hollywood (preferably Disney) could ruin it and make it less profound.

Has no picture, and the one book is apparently optioned. (Writer, A Confederacy of Dunces (in development))
I considered him, but dropped him from inclusion after I found out the novel was in development as a film.
Good choice however.
Thanks

I have one:
Pierre Boulle's "Le Saint Énigmatique" ("The Mysterious Saint") from short story collection "Histoires charitables" (1965): An unknown person perceived as a Saint disrupts the life of a Middle Ages leprosarium.
As a filmmaker I really hope to adapt that at some point in the future. It barely needs any changes to the plot: it's a near perfect movie script as is. :)

The problem with this suggestion... (I've thought of it before but never ran with it)... what happens if the author (and many authors don't even have IMDb pages) don't have photos on their respective IMDb pages. You can't add image files to individual pages (as I assume... IMDb wants these people to open up paid IMDb Pro Accounts to allow the benefit of updating their respective image galleries).

There can be no misconception if the author is the choice presented.
Thanks for the thought though. You too rocky-o!

Not an actual nomination just yet. Just pondering with a partial list and still trying to figure out which one to choose.
One of the following being the most wanted from the lot.
Charles Stross' The Atrocity Archives (Laundry Files #1)
Tom Holt's Doughnut (YouSpace #1)
Peter Clines' 14 (Threshold #1)
To a lesser degree.
Martha Wells (The Murderbot Diaries)
China Mieville's Kraken
Tade Thompson's Rosewater (The Wormwood Trilogy)
Clive Barker's The Great and Secret Show (he might be the only one with an IMDb photo)

This is somewhat tongue-in-cheek. By no means are these a great books, but they have the potential of being a truly awful films:
The Fall of Colossus (1974) or Colossus and the Crab (1977)
The Fall of Colossus - Five years have passed since the super computer called Colossus used its control over the world's nuclear deterrent to take control of humanity. In our timeline, that would place this story in the 1990s or the early 2000s. All references in the novel, however, place it in the 22nd century, with the 20th and 21st being mentioned in the past. Colossus has been superseded by an even more advanced computer system built on the Isle of Wight, which has abolished war and poverty throughout the world. National competition and most sports have been replaced by the Sea War Game, where replicas of World War I dreadnoughts battle each other for viewing audiences. A group known as the Sect, which worships Colossus as a god, is growing in numbers and influence. Yet despite the seeming omnipresence of Colossus' secret police and the penalty of decapitation for anti-machine activities, a secret Fellowship exists that is dedicated to the computer's destruction. ...
Colossus and the Crab - The novel begins where its predecessor, The Fall of Colossus leaves off, with the supercomputer immobilized and the Martians arriving on Earth. They appear before Charles Forbin and his friend Edward Blake in the form of two black spheres, and quickly demonstrate vast intellect and powers of transformation and telepathy. After immobilizing Blake, they explain to Forbin their purpose in immobilizing Colossus — their desire to take half of the Earth's oxygen, a process that will kill nearly a quarter of the human population. In order to proceed with construction of the "Collector" designed to harvest the oxygen, the Martians reactivate the parts of Colossus necessary to manage human society.

Or they could be masterpieces in the right hands!!That is indeed a possibility.
Colossus: The Forbin Project is much better than the book. However, the two sequels are unintentionally funny since the plot lines and execution are so preposterous. I will leave this to your judgement as to whether to include this.
I would recommend combining the two sequels into one film so the film would have a chance of making sense.

I'll look at the two and "Create" a plot based off the synopsis. Or maybe not!! We'll see!

Sula by Toni Morrison
Drown by Junot Diaz
The War by Margeurite Duras
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
And may I suggest on very small edit? (no apostrophe after authors in the question; in bold below)
Which one of these books by these authors would you say needs to be made into a movie?

Notice?
I only have around 4-500 Poll Suggestions.
I guess because I have made so many in the last 14 months you can miss a lot of mine in the cacophony of all of the poll suggestions made here. I'm feeling a little unnoticed by the IMDb editors also. Have been trying to make some timely polls along with my quirky polls, older title polls, TV polls, etc. Also Paok and Dibby seem to have the eye of those editors. It is frustrating. I have the lowest votes per poll for someone with over a hundred live polls. It's embarrassing. If I had had one or two home page polls I'd have better numbers.
Thanks for the compliment on the poll.
Added the first for now. Does the synopsis need a polish job?

Thanks
Changed it. I usually don't like to label people so I had it color blinded (PC'd).
But the fact that she is African/American is important to the story.
It now reads
This would be a refreshing movie if made. It is a character driven story that takes place in a small town in Ohio, circa 1919-1965. It follows the life of a young African-American girl and the changes that happen to her and her community as almost a half century marches on by.

Wow, I never knew that Plath's book was made into a movie, although I'm not surprised, and I knew Duras had another book made into a film but didn't know about The War. Sorry about that.

numbers.
Also, it's not all about numbers. Polls should be about having fun, not about getting votes. But if you want your polls to get more visibility, you could make a list of them on your profile as others have done.
