I highly doubt anyone has seen the Japanese King Kong film if they were all wiped by the atomic bomb.

The 1933 version of King Kong is considered a classic of world cinema.  The 2005 version cannot begin to compare with the greatness of the 1933 film.

I've seen all three standard-issue King Kong films ('33, '76, '05), and that's also the order of quality from best to worst. People just like Peter Jackson. It's whatever, because I know I'll always prefer the ground-breaking original.

I can't believe that Peter Jackson's god awful version is ahead. I could hardly stay awake during that abomination. The 1933 is far superior. The acting is better, directing is better, cinematography is better, and the stop motion ape is much more interesting than CGI Kong.
