What is the difference between "My favorite" and "My vote for best"?

Personally, my favorite is the sequel to Les quatre cents coups , Baisers volés.

You can enjoy a film better than other and that would be your favorite. But you can say that another film, while maybe you don't enjoy it as much, has better qualities and could be considered best.

Then, we have a completely different philosophy about movie ratings.  Personally, I found it contradictory to have a "best movie" and a "favorite movie".

Please add a link to this discussion thread so this can go live.

(I went through a phase a few years ago during which I was always forgetting the link-back. I swear it went on for about ten months, lol.)

Oh, and I noticed one small typo:

french director  ---> (please change to) ---> French director
