I wouldn't like to change the title because it is one of my favorite watchwords in ''LOST''. You can just vote if you believe in science or faith or both, it dosen't really matter if someone is male or female.

You can note the "Lost" reference in the intro without having a title that dismisses the biggest social minority in the world. Of course, you can also keep it as it is but I will always oppose it as it is now. I do not at all like how sexist this board has become recently.

rubyfruit76, I agree and... and we should all take note of how there is innate sexism in most languages. I just discovered recently that word 'husband' is dervied from farming, because one 'husbands' wife the same way as chicken, cow, other farm animals... Even not taking into consideration a whole other layer/problem of cruelty towards animals, that's all kinds of wrong. I even decided to try and use it as little as possible as a result, opting for a more neutral 'spouse', instead.

Then there is a fact that both "female" and "women" in English have "male" and "men" in them, which is a logic bomb for me I always wondered about. The problem is curiously absent in Ukrainian and Russian, by the way.

First, You forgot to change the description on the two first pictures

"Man of science"

"Man of faith"

Second, at the point at we are now the whole reference to "Lost" has blown up:

1- You have changed the title
2- You added 2 characters that aren't in the series "Lost".

So I suggest that you use real words to make your poll (Atheism, Theism, Deism, Agnosticism, Pantheism etc.)

or you can base your self on Dawkins' scale below:

Dawkins scale

I think that that is the kind of subject where there is too much possibility,

For me, the question is exactly like the controversial question "What is your gender?", the only way to satisfy everyone would be to include a "Comment Box", but these comments boxes doesn't exist in IMDb, and It would ruin the results of the polls as well as making the analysis way harder.

If regardless of what I said above you still want to pursue this idea, I can say that as I said earlier it would be more appropriate to use the true words to describe the beliefs, it is also a dangerous game because of most of the users on IMDb won't even know the correct designation for their belief which will probably result in biased results or lack of votes.

In conclusion, this subject is too hard to handle for an IMDb poll.

It is also one of the few questions that I would avoid as a poll maker.

It is not necessarily for someone to take a poll. If a user can't handle it then he shouldn't vote.

A 5fth choice added to the poll. A 'I am not quite sure' maybe will cover some of the voters.

This thing went downhill as soon as the very catchy "Man of Science vs. Man of Faith" title was changed.

You guys carry on.

I also prefer the title "Man of Science vs. Man of Faith" but rubyfruit76 thinks it's sexist. I want to satisfy everybody but it's impossible.

I don't think that "Man of Science vs. Man of Faith" was sexist, our generations didn't create those words. this is just the way that things are named, when we use words "husband", "female", "women" we give to them a whole different signification, these words can't be considered as sexism presently, if you want to fight against sexism presently the is a ton of neologism and abbreviations like "styfe" that clearly have a sexist and inappropriate connotation to censure the primary title of the poll was absurd.

1- I think that the reference to Lost is lost, by the fact that the title is changed and that you have  characters outside the "Lost-Universe"

2- I think that the poll was very catchy at the beginning with only two options, but I also recognize that a ton of person has an interpretation that is not listed on your list.

3- The title right now doesn't represent the poll anymore, the polls contain 5 options, and your title is announcing only 2 of them.

4-  Finally, I believe that this poll suggestion is ruined, and I don't see any way to make it great again.

I couldn't agree more. The sexism against heterosexual, "cis"-gendered men is out of control.

This needs serious discussion.

I'm more moderated on that Abi, I don't believe that there are sexism on this board.

Of course, there are some things to improve in both ways.

But presently no one is against equality.

What I dislike, however, is that we are fighting against irrational causes like modifying the titles of polls or unharmful words because they had a whole different meaning 50 years ago.

We aren't in the 60s and in the 70s, some people are still acting like we are.

I think that we should concentrate on more rational battles like terminate every sexist keyword on the Database.

What is going on right now, I like some people call it "positive-discrimination", it is the act of purposely discriminating a social group to favorize a social group that was discriminated in the past.

As I see our world:

Past: (On equal skills "non-minority" is favorized)
lower for social minority/ higher for "non-minority"

Present: (On equal skills social  minority is favorized)
higher for social minority/ lower for "non-minority"

Future (On equal skills, you roll the dice)

equal for both

That means that presently we are giving more jobs to social-minority if their abilities are equal to "non-minority" to compensate for the deficit faster.

What I'm suggesting:

Past: (On equal skills "non-minority" favorized)

Present/What it should be: (On equal skills, you roll the dice)

Future (On equal skills, you roll the dice)

The advantage of that way as I see it is that you aren't disadvantaging the "non-minorities" that are searching for a job.

That means that when the older generation will retire you would get complete salary equity strictly based on abilities without amputating the current students at university.

I probably the most atheist person in the world, my religion teacher once talked about god, I left the class and slam the door.

Plus, this is a too personal question even though I don't care I'm proud to be an atheist, I'm doing every test and in high school, I left the class each time the teacher talked about any god (which made me fail my Religion class every year.)
