With the right music, clothes, vehicles, interior and habits, some movies achieve to bring the vibe of an particular era to the screen. For the decades we didn't experienced in real life, with these movies we get a good impression how the way of life was.

It's a good idea for a poll but two remarks:
- I'm not sure I would count the 90's, granted the 90's are in their 20's now, the change was more on a technological level, unless you mean the 'grudge' look, the 'Beverly Hills 90210' fashion, the Rachel or the Bart Simpson T-shirt but then "The Wolf of Wall Street" isn't a very relevant choice because in the film, they're all wearing suits... which leads me to my second remark
- I think this has the potential for a terrific image-poll, the poster makes the point but since the focus is on the "look", and since you're asking for the decade we love to see as a setting, the image should reflect the stylish value of the movie, which your poll is about. And it shouldn't be very complicated to find defining-images of a decade.
You have two possibilites, let's say you want to define the 70's: either you take a picture from a 70's movie, so the look will be there automatically (Saturday Night Fever, Car Wash, Superfly...) or you take a film made in another decade but set in the 70's (Carlito's Way, Donnie Brasco, American Hustle...)
And I think this second option is better if the poll is about the decades we love to see recreated in the movie (it seems that you included many movies that are not from the specific decade which makes me wonder if it's not what you meant, but then you have Easy Rider so I'm not sure)
But you'd do a great service to this poll if you turned it into an image-one :) Just an advice.

Just a suggestion, I think only one of the title or the image lists would be
selected for a poll. Only one thread should be necessary. It also would
be easier to keep track of comments and corrections. In the future, I
would post both on the same thread with the dual lists.
ie
See the partial list of Decades of the 20th Century Settings preferred IMAGE LIST here: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls020326977/#1 or the TITLE LIST here: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls020316252/

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled PS: Decades of the 20th Century as Setting (image list).
This is the same poll suggestion as I did before, but this is an image list and the other one is a title list.
See here the title list: https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...
I PREFER THE TITLE LIST!
Description:

Very good Poll ! For me it's the 20s and the 30s. :D
I love the cars and the clothing. The 20s and the 30s got style.
And the best music. I'm a Swing Kid. ;D
I can vote only for one, so i vote for the 20s,
even when Swing reached it's peak from 1930s to 40.
Dixie-Jazz from the 20s also does fun! :)

I do choose movies in which the stories takes place the decade I mentioned. So I don't know which one you think isn't correct...
I agree about Wolf of Wall Street. There must be a better example.
I have to think about your idea to make it an image poll. I do think it will be hard to find good images. What do you want to see on a image of the '10s or '20 or '90s? I don't know!? And it will be hard to make this images matching and to make the poll a whole.
So I think for now I'll search for better movie posters (title's) from movies which are set in the particular decade.

For instance, one might love "The Best Years of Our Lives" because the film brings up the vibes of 1945, but from the way you wrote your intro, I thouht you meant a movie like "The Godfather", perfectly recreating 1945 although released in 1972. Granted the films are set in the same period, but William Wyler's movie didn't achieve much, it's a 40's non-period movie so of course, it exudes the 40's vibes.
Maybe I'm nitpicky, but I think there's a subtle (very little) difference between the two aspects, some movies define their decade, "Rebel Without a Cause" for the 50's, "Easy Rider" for the 60's, "Saturday Night Fever" for the 70's but modern movies go further by recreating the feel of these decades and overstating it so much it adds a real stylish value like "Back to the Future", "Stand by Me" or "L.A Confidential" for the 50's, "JFK", "Forrest Gump" or "American Graffiti" for the 60's or "American Hustle", "Frost/Nixon" or "Dazed and Confused" for the 70's etc.
As for the pictures, I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a relevant pic regardless of the orientation this poll takes:
An image of the 10's? Titanic or any WWI movie
of the 20's? The Great Gatsby? The Artist?
the 90's? Well, like I said, that's more complicated, The Fighter can be a good one, or let's consider a biopic set in the 90's (even Dallas Buyers Club would work) or there must be a cool picture in The Wolf of Wall Street gallery.

I really tried to make an image poll, but it wasn't working for me. It was hard to find good images. I came this far: http://www.imdb.com/list/ls020326977/#5
So, I searched for new titles from movies with good stylish posters and also in which a decade is recreated. I like how this list became. And I like to know what you think.
Also I changed the description and the question a little bit. If you have any suggestion for improvement, I like to hear it. Thanks again for your advice!

I gave you many titles, for the 70's, you had American Hustle:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1800241/mediaviewer/rm2958896640
Dazed and Confused:

Anchorman:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0357413/mediaviewer/rm1607044096
I wish I could help for the other decades, but I'm having a busy day but all it takes is go to Google or Wikipedia, type "Movies set in ...." and you'll have a set of movies that fits your description, don't pick 'plain dramas', popular movies, musicals or biopics generally reflect the flavor of their era.
