I would love IMDb to have a new way to search and refine the search for movies with two or more genres, e.g. Searching for highest rated movies which are classified as both fantasy and romantic. This will be a great addition to the site.

and of course that should be combined with the ability to refine the search by omitting some genres from the results, e.g. searching for comedy movies that are not of a family genre.

The Advanced Search already has capabilities to search for movies classified as both two and more genres, and several other criteria. Here's a search for the highest rated movies that are listed as both Fantasy and Romance:

Omitting genres from a search could be a helpful tool, though. I second the idea to add that possibility. It shouldn't be too hard; instead of one checkbox per genre, the could be two; one for "must include" and one for "must not include".

I'd also like to be able to search for more than one keyword from the Advanced Search myself.

I'd also like the ability to narrow it down by add'l factors... an example... comedies from 2005-2010, starring Adam Sandler, that have a user rating above 5, sorted descending by box office gross. Or action movies, from 1980-2000, that have a runtime of more than 2 hrs, star either Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Sylvester Stallone, and have been rated by 500+ users. Or movies that were made in France, are categorized as "romance" but also "comedy", have a rating over 6, and are sorted from most recent.

And really, this shouldn't be hard at all. Especially for a company like Amazon. In fact, this feature should already exist. The search/sorting that is available right now, is pretty pathetic.

Your Adam Sandler search is already possible:,2010&role=nm0001191&sort=boxoffice_...,

I agree that there should be more options, though.

I'd like to see common keywords between two movies, myself.
