For some reason I was logged out of IMDb in the middle of entering information for a new title and Im afraid all the information was lost. Someone please help. It took me hours to enter this information, I need to know how to retrieve it.

There is a remote possibility that you could recover this information yourself. The information probably has been saved if you clicked the yellow "Continue" button at least once.

1. Go to your Your Account page. [https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb...]
2. Click on in the "Other" section. [View your contributions]
3. If your latest contribution has not been lost, it should be viewable as the top entry. Click on the "Reference" ID. You should be able to continue editing the information for the new title.

If you are able to recover your information, please post here. Otherwise, post another message in this thread that you could not cover the information. Maybe an IMDb staff member can help you.

Dan, thank you so much for your reply. I did exactly what you said to do and the item I was working on yesterday is not there. I remember that while I was entering the information for a new title I was hitting the button "re-check these updates" and I thought that was saving the information.

Can you please direct me to a IMDB staff member. If I hadn't spent over 2 hours inputting the information, I would just start over again. Any help you can offer is very much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Lynne Newton

At the moment, I cannot think of anything else you can do without the help of an IMDb staff member.

I am bumping this thread in hopes that one of the IMDb administrators sees this thread.

I wish you the best of luck.

I received this private message from a very knowledgeable user, MayorDefacto, on Thu Jul 11 2013 10:15) :
Hey Dan,

Staff is unlikely to be able to help Ms Newton recover the information that was on her new title update form before she was "[f]or some reason I was logged out". If she didn't at least "Save for later", it's pretty much gone. There is one avenue though that still may be open depending on her browser and the settings she's chosen thereon.

Firefox remembers what you type into forms (unless you tell it not to). Most modern browsers have a similar feature. So for example, if I open the new title form and click the first box, Title, then click again in the empty box, I get a dropdown of the last thirty odd titles I've entered there, from which I can scroll down and select any previously entered title.

She'll still have to re-tick any check boxes, but using this method, she should be able to quickly recreate what she has previously entered into text fields. Assuming of course that her browser operates in a similar fashion.

Unfortunately, if the update wasn't submitted or saved, it's gone. We don't store the content of a submission until it's sent or saved via the 'Save for Later' button.

I'm afraid you'll have to start over...
