Name limitations?

I go by my initials on all my credits. With the exception of my very first credit, I have always been credited on screen without the periods between my initials. It looks cleaner and makes internet searches easier. BUT IMDB won't allow me to have my name like that, because it says the name can't end in a capital letter. I see other actors/writers do it. How do I do that, as well?

Unfortunately, in most cases IMDb will not allow a name to with initials to be shown in capital letters without the periods. For example, the baseball player CC Sabathia is usually known by his initials, with no periods ... except on IMDb, where he is listed as C.C. Sabathia.

There are a few people who have been able to get by that rule, like K Callan and CCH Pounder, but I have never seen an explanation as to why they were allowed to get by without having periods between their initials.

So I suspect that you will have to be listed with periods after your initials on IMDb, at least until this policy is changed.

There are a large number of people on IMDB that have their initials listed without the punctuation, including a number of them that have the same initials as me. I'd like to know how they managed to get that done. I assumed it was because they were well known or had good management, but a few of the ones listed have no credits or photos, or only a single credit from an obscure indie film. Obviously, there is a trick or a process to get that corrected. I'd just like to know what it is.

You could submit a "miscellaneous correction" to the page editor and ask.  There are some types of names that have to be added wrong (because they are grammatically unusual/uncommon and that get rejected by the system) then a "miscellaneous" request made to have it corrected at the hand of a page editor.  I am not aware of this having worked and gromit, above, certainly knows better than I, but I guess it'd be worth a try. The site staff doesn't seem to comment on this, though.  Take note of this thread that had no reply from staff... as well as your thread, started 7 months ago, which has had no input from staff...

I would recommend trying bluesmanSF's suggestion, but you might consider first getting a couple of screen captures of your name in the credits of some projects, to show that you are billed that way.

When you submit the Miscellaneous Correction include a link to this thread and then upload the pictures to a reply in this thread and include the Reference ID of the Miscellaneous Correction. This will allow a staff member to bring that submission to the attention of the data manager.
