My first IMDB credit was set up with the wrong name - not as I was credited in the film. Now I can't change my name for it and other films

The first film which ever credited me on IMDB added me with my middle name which I never use (it was on the callsheet and never used in the end credits). So ever since then the other films I have worked on continue to add me as Drew Overly Diamond even though I am credited in their films as Drew Diamond.

I selected edit, wrote my preferred name and added a description for why I want it changed, and selected to NOT preserve any alias.

After that I select 'warning understood, go ahead anyway' and it just takes me back to the same page saying "Your updates aren't quite ready to submit to our data-editors. There are some things you need to verify below (look out for the updates that don't have a green background yet). Make the necessary corrections and click the 'Re-check these updates' button."

Below is the screen as I see it each time after I hit Re-check these updates, but I do not see what is needing to be corrected. I have tried clicking the one credit which is me (first one on the top) and it just takes me through the same process. I have done it not clicking that title and it does the same. What am I doing wrong?

Again, I don't need an alias or 'credited as', all of my credits have always been for the name as I am trying to correct.

Please advise.

Choose the last option, "this is a different person...." It's poorly worded for changing a name. In your case it really means "this is a different name not currently listed..."

Hey,

So I selected the "this is a different person" option and checked my IMDB page today to see how it looked. Now my imdb page is correctly under "Drew Diamond" (the correct name) but then all of credits are listed with parenthesis that say "...as Drew Overly Diamond" even though none of those films list my middle name in their credits. How can I get it to not add the parenthetical "as" to my credits?

Were any of them given with the "Overly" middlename?

If so then that is correct for them (as IMDB wants to retain a record of how it appeared onscreen), otherwise you'll need to edit your name page and remove the "as Drew Overly Diamond" attribute from those where you weren't credited like that.

Hey,

No, I never was credited with "Overly" as my middlename in any film. It was on the callsheet from the first film I ever was credited on IMDB for and mistakenly added. Then all the other productions linked me with the incorrect name as well.

When I go to the edit page I see the "as..." listed in the attributes. How do I delete this attribute?

Hit the drop down menu under "Action" and select to correct each one, submit this and you get the chance to edit the relevant entry.

In the short film Glass People, which is online, you are not credited at all, and a different first assistant camera is credited in your place. If in fact you worked on the film, you should add the "(uncredited)" attribute and make sure the job title reflects your actual role.

Emperor - thank you for the help, I just submitted the revisions. I think I finally have this problem resolved.

Peter - ditto, I added (uncredited) in the attributes.

Best,

Drew

Hi there!!

I have the exact same issue as drew and would really love some help please! My IMDb name was originally my full name and my stage name was just my first and last. On television I was credited as just my first and last name. However IMDb has the (as) previous name listed under all my credits. How can I remove this? Should i do exactly as Drew did? I'm so frustrated. I would appreciate some help! Best, Nicole
