I try to merge https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0389179/ and https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0389180/. It is the same person, as Wikipedia (with the sources) and Filmportal show:
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Günter_Hoffmann_(Schauspieler)
and
https://www.filmportal.de/person/guenter-hoffmann_5d9e15d9eb394ff697f41ab5db658c71
Also it's not possible for me to delete titles, that definitely didn't show this Günter Hoffmann: Die Drehscheibe (TV Series), Der Schatz im Silbersee (TV Movie) and Flug in Gefahr (TV Movie).
I justified every change, but it always gets declined. Someone put it there with no proof and no it's impossible to correct it.

Hello Erik, I'm just a contributor, but I have experience merging pages.
If you are 100% sure they are the same person, you need to merge
Günter Hoffmann (III) to Günter Hoffmann (I).
Could you submit succesfully the merge?
In order for staff to help you it's better to post the contribution number, it has 18 digits,

Hope it helps and please excuse my poor English.

You have it a little fuzzy. I think you got it right in your mind but your explanation is vague.
Best always to reprint the topic.

Quick step by step instructions

1. Open the two pages you'd like to merge together in separate tabs.

2. On the page you would like to disappear, select Edit page

3. Next to the option for 'Name Correction or Merge' use the drop-down on the right and select "Add correction" then Continue

4. In the blank field under "Name Correction of Merge" you'll want to add the unique identifier of the page you're merging into (the page which will remain).

Thank you for your kind message! I did merge as you say, but they declined. In case a staff member sees this message: The contribution number is: Contribution #191016-210802-959000
If nobody answers, I'll write another message, this time with the contribution number. Thank you again!

Hi Erik -

Concerning the merge you requested, can you post the related submission reference number associated with this update?

Concerning the deletion of the credits, please note that they may belong to a different "Günter Hoffmann", so in thi instance instead of removing the credits they should be moved the page of the correct person (or added to a new name page for a person with the same name).  For further instructions on how to move credits, please review the following guide: https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/how-can-i-move-credits-to-another-pag...#

Hi Michelle,

here is the contribution number: #191016-210802-959000

The other titles may very well belong to a different "Günter Hoffmann", but I have no proof of that. It would be wrong for me to decide anything more than I know and have proof of. From this Günter Hoffmann they have to be deleted, as I explained in my contribution.

Did you merge Gunter into Gunter (III) or Gunter (III) into Gunter, Eric?

Hi Ed, thank you for your messages!
As @Bulma Punkrocker rightfully said I merged Günter Hoffmann (III) to Günter Hoffmann (I). And I did exactly what you wrote. I'll now wait what Michelle does and if nothing happens I'll try again. But moving the credits that do not belong to this Günter Hoffmann to another or create a new one – I can not do this with good conscience, because I don't know to whom they belong. I would just like to delete them where they definitely don't belong.

Did you use the Gunter (III) Page for the edit?(all submission work is done on that page only) That is what I am asking. You do not do the edit from Gunter (I)
Thanks

To do a proper merge, you are changing the Gunter(III) page into the Gunter(I) page by correcting the incorrect Gunter (III) Page so that it becomes Gunter (I).
It is actually backwards

I have resubmitted it in case you have done it backwards.
Contribution #191019-072250-806000
This way makes Gunter (III) become Gunter(I) therefor eliminating or essentially deleting Gunter(III) The other way would be asking to make Gunter(I) to be Gunter(III) thereby eliminating Gunter(I) in favor of the keeping Gunter(III)

That's what I was trying to say with:

you need to merge
Günter Hoffmann (III) to Günter Hoffmann (I)

I'm sorry if it was confusing, lost in translation.

Unfortunately it's wrong. Günter Hoffmann (I) (Assistant Director) (unique identifier = nm0389178) hasn't to do anything with all this. That's a completely unknown to me person. What I meant:

Günter Hoffmann (III) (sound department) (unique identifier = nm0389180) and Günther Hoffmann (actor) (unique identifier = nm0389179) are the same person.

Oh I think, there is a mistake now! Günther Hoffmann (actor) with "h" has to be merged with Günter Hoffmann (III) (sound department). So at the end Günther Hoffmann (actor) hast to be deleted because he is written without "h". I'm so sorry! But Günter Hoffmann (I) has nothing to do with it. My mistake in the message one hour ago!

Again: I edited Günther Hoffmann (actor) (the page, I want to disappear). In the blank field under "Name Correction of Merge" I added the unique identifier of the page Günter Hoffmann (!) (sound). This page will remain at the end.

Erik, please re-explain the exact pages that need merging. Or is it NO page needs merging. Or is there a page that just needs a name correction.
You need to re-explain again what you are attempting to do.

What you have not stated is Which is the correct name?
Gunter or Gunther. It is Important to know what name to keep!!!!!!!!!(Main name)
For a merge to be correct this is needed.

Links to URL's in english please.

There are no links in english. Here is one article. Look what is written under the photos: "Heute ist Günter Hoffmann Tonmeister." ("Today Günter Hoffmann is a sound ingenieur.") Look at the sources provided in Wikipedia: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Günter_Hoffmann_(Schauspieler) I can show these sources, too, if needed.

This article above may say what you say it says but it cannot be run through a translator program because it is a photo. So it may as well be an alien language from Mars.

Also the Wikipedia article you site (excerpt below) that states that in 1968 he started a sound career, but it has no reference numbers (outside citation links) as sources that corroborate the information contained in this portion of the article.

5. Wolfgang Polte: "Die Brücke" wurde ihr Schicksal. In: Frau im Spiegel. 30. April 1975.
6. Thilo Wydra: "Gut montierte Knallerei" – "Brücke"-Darsteller Günter Hoffmann im Filmclub. In: Wiesbadener Kurier. 1. Dezember 1993. {{This is your photocopy article above}}

At best all the information is questionable because they contain no URL's for IMDb to reference

Ed Jones (XLIX) I'm pretty sure there are people on GS who can read German and there might even be some among staff, because I've seen foreign language proofs approved on such evidence. So in this case you're not 100% correct, unfortunately: it is evidence, if not especially hard one and it's a more or less common language someone here might read.

Unfortunately my German is nearly non-existent, so I can only help  with Russian and Ukrainian and (on a superficial level) Dutch and French so far.

I have come to the conclusion that these pages should not be merged. There is no clear evidence that they are one in the same. The only thing that you are basing this merge on is a Wikipedia page which I do not believe to be accurate.
IMDb also will not take Wikipedia as a source that can be trusted. Also it is the only reference that you give that mentions both careers. Actor and Sound and boom man.
Your Filmportal web link mentions the same DOB but only references his Sound engineer work. No actor credits are mentioned whatsoever.
If all you have to go off of is Wikipedia, then you actually have no proof that they are one in the same.

Conclusion: While you have done excellent research, it falls short of the "beyond a reasonable doubt" as to all of the datas accuracy.

Filmportal is maintained by Deutsches Filminstitut and Museum. It has the highest reputation. Contrary to the what you say, the actor credits are mentioned. You have to scroll down. He was a child actor, so his actor credits start in 1958. Please check again:

Concerning the article I cited the important passage under the photos: "Heute ist Günter Hoffmann Tonmeister." Put it in Google Translate and translate from german to english.
Later in his life he only occasionally played little roles, often in the series he worked for as a sound assistant. For exemple for "Balko". Here is another article. I underlined the important sentence for you to check in Google Translate: "In einer Gastrolle wird der Tonassistent Günter Hoffmann (rechts im Bild) zu sehen sein." ("In a guest role, the sound assistant Günter Hoffmann (right in the picture) can be seen.")
I value very much your high standard "beyond a reasonable doubt". I wished, other contributors would have had this standard, when they submitted titles like Flug in Gefahr (TV Movie) to Hoffmanns page. Because for me now it's really difficult to get this deleted. I don't have any printed proof to delete this title beyond of what Hoffmann told me.

You have provided more evidence for merging the names. The problem that remains is the credits as Gunther. Do his on screen credits say Gunther or Gunter?
Please provide screengrabs of two or three titles showing his name as either name in those titles on the Gunther Page. If you can provide screengrabs of every acting credit that would be much better also. IMDb will need to know if the credits shall be maintained as an AKA or changed so as to reflect what is shown on screen.
Thanks

To expand. Credits should be corrected before the merge. That is if corrections are needed or warranted at all.
