Movie splitting

Hi there

About a month ago, I suggested the creation of 2 new films that correspond, at least in France, to the splitting of Werk ohne Autor (tt5311542). To watch this film, you had to buy 2 distinct tickets for 2 distinct showings. First half and then second half.

Thus, 2 films were created:
1) L'Oeuvre sans auteur - Partie 1 (tt10644976)
2) L'Oeuvre sans auteur - Partie 2 (tt10644978)

Yesterday, I noticed that these 2 films have now disappeared
May I ask why?
In a general way, what is the IMDb politics about film splitting, knowing that these splits may vary from one country to another?

Best regards,
Stéphane

Hi Stéphane -

I can see that the titles have been merged to the existing title page "Werk ohne Autor": https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5311542/ , and the French title ("L'oeuvre sans auteur") is listed an Alternate title: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5311542/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_dt_2

The title should be listed with reflection of how it was first aired, any subsequent screenings and alternate titles should be listed on the existing title page under the "Release Info" section, note that there should not be more than one listing for a title.

Hello Michelle

1) This movie has been aired 1 time and only 1 time in France, in July 2019, in 2 distinct parts. My suggestion of creating was a natural consequence of this fact. And the suggestion was wholly accepted.

2) I do not see any "Release Info" section, neither on my PC, neither on my iPhone app. For Werk ohne Autor (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5311542) I do not find any information dealing with the split in France. Could you please be more specific ?

3) The merge of Werk ohne Autor (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5311542) is probably incorrect.
3.1) On my PC, the title is Werk ohne Autor (original) and L'oeuvre sans auteur (France)
3.2) On my iPhone app, the title is L'oeuvre sans auteur - Partie 1
It's weird and incoherent

Best regards,
Stéphane

Hi Stéphane -

All title pages have a "Release Dates" section which you can get to by clicking on the "More" link just above the title text on the title page, "Release Dates" will then be linked under the "Details" section:

You can see all alternate titles listed under the section, for "Werk ohne Autor" you can view them here:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5311542/releaseinfo?ref_=tt_ql_dt_2

As you can see, in the screen grab above, both part 1 and part 2 are currently listed as Alternate French titles of this series.

Concerning the title text you are seeing, please note that the display is dependent based on your location (so US-based users will see films listed under the title used for the North American release, while users browsing the site from France will see titles as they appeared on the French release of those movies etc.).  If you are logged into your IMDb account you may see titles displaying differently based on your selected title display site settings, whereas if you are on a different device and may not be logged into your account, the title may display differently based on your targeted location.
Ultimately, to clarify, there should only be one title listing for a title on the site, and the title should be listed under the original title that the film was screened under, with subsequent titles listed as Alternative
titles.

I hope this helps clarify, let me know if you have any further questions.
