I have had several keyword additions declined with no reason stated. This is new. Previously the keywords were always added (including ones I have added before). Is this yet another ongoing processing error?

IMDb editors will find it easier to answer that if you post reference numbers.

FYI: I have found that keywords are also listed as declined if they were deleted or corrected after you added it.

Thank you. I have checked, but they have not been added.

Sorry about this, as Peter requested, please supply the 18-digit reference numbers of a sample of affected contributions in order for us to investigate.

In this case you may find it easier to obtain those numbers from the experimental more complete history which includes the status of each item @ https://contribute.imdb.com/contributions/history

Thank you. I have looked t the new feature. That could prove to be really useful as I can see the status of edits without having to go into each submission or the page I was editing!

Hi,

What reasons for rejection can you find out in https://contribute.imdb.com/contributions/history (view details)?

I don't see anything else. It just says 'declined'.

Sorry to ask for confirmation: have you clicked on each "View Contribution details"?

Yes. There is nothing inside except a list of the keywords I am adding. There are no comments anywhere (at least not visible to me) for the reason of the declining.

Not very helpful indeed!!
So I guess we will have to wait for an IMDb staff to visit and review this topic.

Are all the keywords on the forms being declined? Or just certain keywords on each form?

All of them in every submission.

I have now had a reply from imdb:

Hi there,

Thank you for inquiring about your data submission.

If you submitted credits or other information to IMDb.com and the data hasn't appeared online yet, please read the following documentation which includes the most common reasons why updates may be delayed or rejected:

https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/contribution-information/when-will-my...

If you feel that your rejected submission doesn't fall into any of the categories described on that page and you have verified that it's not already listed in the database, you're welcome to resubmit it once. However if it still doesn't appear, it means that our editors were unable to process it and/or felt that it didn't satisfy our acceptance criteria. While we welcome additions and corrections, please keep in mind that updates are accepted at our discretion and that we reserve the right to withdraw or reject information at any time.

Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Meredith

Since this more or less standard/general reply didn't answer the query and since the keywords have been submitted several times now, with a large quantity having been accepted and gone live, I am still puzzled as to why these particular ones (seven or eight submissions each containing varying numbers of words) still have not been accepted and continue to be declined with absolutely no reason given, I replied to their response asking for further information.

This is the bizarre reply I then got back:

Hi there,

Thanks for your message.

We regret that we have not been able to address your concerns to your satisfaction, or take the actions you have requested regarding information listed on our site.

Our customer service department will not be able to offer any additional insight or action on these matters.

Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,

Thank you for your message here.

I have already quite clearly been told by 'support' staff who now seem to call themselves 'customer service' (???!!!) that they can offer no further help on this. See above!

I am really disappointed. The response I have received is utterly obtuse and this is not the first time.
We are not customers, but rather voluntary editors who give our time and effort to help build the site. I myself was in the top-250 for four consecutive years. I really think that when this status has been achieved that the submissions should be accepted forthwith and/or in a much more automatic fashion

Unless most of the keywords I have tried to add are actually added, I highly doubt I will be trying to add them again, nor indeed will I attempt to add any new ones. The effort and hassle required is now simply too much.

There is no reason at all as to why most of the keywords should not be added.
If I have already worked so hard until now, why the heck would I be trying to add keywords that are inappropriate?!
The mind boggles.

Many changes have been made on the site over the last few years, some are good, others are utterly ridiculous and in no way contributor-friendly.

What titles were you updating and what were the keywords you were trying to add?

One example is:
keyword: swissair
title: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2393105/

Another:
keyword: winterberry
title: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0583651/

Winterberry would be a new keyword and swissair is a pre-existing keyword. So it can't have anything to do with whether the keyword is new or not.

Hi dale79 -

Both keywords you reported have now been added to the titles and should be listed on the site shortly.  If you experience other instances where valid Keyword submissions are not being accepted, as mentioned previously, I encourage you to contact our support team directly through our Contact Form with any source evidence to help verify your submission, and they will be able to take a look.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Keywords declined - previously accepted on other titles.

Following on from here:
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/keywords-declined-previously-accepted-on-other-titles

The conversation has been marked as 'solved'. This however is not the case.

One of the keywords you mentioned would be added has not been added to the title in question.

Moreover, I contacted the help desk, citing the conversation here, however I have not had a reply to my message and the keywords have not been added.

Another problem is the keyword 'dvd-extra' is not even being added when a new title is added.
What is going on?
