Keyword List Truncation

When I searched to see if a keyword existed to describe something like "super-scream" or "sonic cry" i.e., similar to Black Canary's sonic-cry (but a different character), I wasn't able to because the number of keywords was truncated at "shot-with-a-bow-and-arrow".  I went to this imdb page and got the same results: I'd prefer to use one that already exists, if appropriate, rather than create my own, but given the current search parameters, this is proving difficult. Wuzzup with that?

Hi David,

I can see the problem with the field browser, but the main site search feature has a keyword option which gives specific matches rather than an alphabetical list.

I see sonic-scream is listed, if that works.

Do not need "ref_=nv_sr_fn" in your link

IMDb adds "ref_=..." for tracking (source)

Come to think of it, "sonic-scream" is potentially a fine keyword to describe the ability in question, since it can by very broad approximation encompass near-sonic subsonic screams and near-sonic supersonic screams, which would all render sonic booms or at least massive shockwaves.

I have just added myself to the "me too" group for this problem, because this is a genuine technical problem that has not been resolved yet. If you are looking for the alphabetical list of keywords that start with the letter T, you won't find any that fall alphabetically after "toyota-supra".

Since it's been mentioned in another thread, this is a good moment to remember that the 10,000-limit for the displaying of keyword lists is still an issue...

Currently I can't type very much because of a hand injury, so I'll leave here this table which I believe is self-explanatory...

In short:
  • 11 of the 27 keyword lists are truncated to some extent (A, B, C, D, F, H, M, P, R, S, T).
  • Because of the truncation, some lists leave out up to 80% of their keywords.
  • The number of excluded keywords will (obviously) keep on rising as long as the problem persists.
