In my opinion, Joker is way better

Joker 9 / 10

Endgame 6 / 10

Endgame was a basic movie the acting was basic and it is basically not better than the previous Marvel movie.

Joker is almost a masterpiece, Joaquin Phoenix is role was amazing, Robert Deniro was amazing, The screenplay was very good, And the las quote between Joaquin and Robert Deniro will become a classic.

It is a universal fact that Marvel makes better movies than DC. There are a few exceptions though, like Wonder Woman and The Dark Knight. Then came Avengers Endgame: the movie which, just as anyone would have expected, broke many many box office records. But, a good movie is not made by box office alone. yes, Avengers Endgame is a fitting finish to a huge series, but at the end of the day, it is just a movie with epic CGI and a very emotional death (2 actually). It is a movie which you watch once and you will be able to get the meaning. And they got the box office rightfully deserved.

But, as a legend once said,
"Its not about the money, its about sending a message."

Joker is a movie that impacts anyone who watches it. Anyone will be surprised at what they see. Joker is a movie which strikes fear into anyone who watches this masterpiece of a combination of a phenomenal comic book character's mindset, a brilliant director, Todd Philipps and a very nice screenplay, edited by the director and Scott Silver, and the out-of-this-world performance of Joaquin Phoenix.

Usually, superhero movies show the positive side in the humanity. But Joker shows that it isn't all justice and righteous. The often defeated villains may have been bad in other people's angles. But, he has an angle of his own in which he is, perhaps, and most probably, right. Joker shows us that the same humanity which the villain seeks to defeat, is the ONE AND ONLY creator of these villains [exception, of course, villains from other planets and galaxies]. It shows us, a villain is a hero in his own story. And we can't disagree to it once we watch Joker. Mark my words, this movie is going to turn this genre upside down.

DC has always had the best comic book film. No amount of hype will let any MCU movie surpass The Dark Knight. Now Joker comes in to take my number 2 spot for best comic book movies away from Logan.

To put it plainly, Joker is the better film overall. The only thing Endgame has over it is the action scenes.

I agree with you azazel_ 2100, Endgame had more action and more budget, but they did the mistake to put this 356 million on special effect and not on good actors and on more time to write a decent screenplay.

All the Marvel and DC actors are good. But I have to admit by an hour into Endgame I switched off. It was too long and the 2nd hour was just not really that thrilling. I have seen it 4 times no lie but the 2nd hour is always the same. I drift of. Make a cuppa. Google etc. I then start watching again once they all get reborn.

The Joker I have seen once. But it was freaky. Scary in ways. The one reason I like Joker more is because it felt real! Marvel films do not feel real. DC films feel real as they have grit and dirt. Disney are too squeaky clean and their films will never feel real to me. Lion King remake so so. Awesome cgi and great viewing but it was cgi. The Joker was almost 99% acting.

Marvel/Disney need to stop making happy films. We all knew in Infinity War they would live again. But in The Joker if Spiderman was killed he stays dead!

Rdj is 1 of the best actors MCU ever had.

I am a marvel fun but JOKER really did move me. It's the best movie by DC so far. The movie and the acting was just another level that even engame couldn't touch.

I hate people, who says that Martin Scorsese makes no sense when he said that Marvel Superhero Movies aren't cinema because he considered directing Joker.

First, Scorsese is right Marvel and Disney doesn't make cinema they make cash

Second, Joker isn't a superhero movie, IT IS A MASTERPIECE, and I think that those who say Joker is completely like Endgame didn't watch the movie, it is more close to V for Vendetta, Taxi Diver
 and A Beautiful Mind.

Martin Scorsese said He described proper cinema as "human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being"

Joker is psychological and emotional,  I think that it completely fit in his definition and that it makes a lot of sense.

cinephile, well, on the one hand I certainly agree with Scorsese on some points, but I also partially agree with James Gunn who remembered that Scorsese, one of his favorite directors, always complained about the fact that people were condemning his The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) without seeing it and now he admits that he barely saw any of the MCU movies before noting that they are not cinema.

I believe that truth is somehwere in the middle: some movies from the MCU stand on their own, have meaning and also have enough merit to stand on their own, but at this point we can all agree that marketing leads the franchise and such cases are scarce since most movies are designed more like high-end TV series episodes mixed with, well, attractions. It's interesting that Gunn made the point, because his movies of superhero genre always have something in them which just keeps them from mixing with the others. But overall even some of the fiercly original directors are barely recognizable when they direct for MCU.

I thought that James Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Yes some Marvel movies are good like Logan, Deadpool (not my favorite but, It was original), Deadpool 2, X- Men: First Class, X-Men: The Day of a Future Past, Winter Soldier was good, and I would have given a Higher rating to Infinity War if Disney didn't make the mistake to put the cast of Endgame right after the release of Infinity War (which wasn't a spoiler because everybody knew that Disney wouldn't want to kill half of the heroes before they even made a trilogy.)

I would have like Infinity War if there was no Sequel to resurrect everyone.

cinephile, he was reinstated recently, so now he's the only director currently in production of both DCEU and MCU films. Honestly, I never understood Disney firing him in the first place: it's not like they never knew they were hiring a man with a very strange sense of humor who also wrote and co-directed Tromeo and Juliet (1996), a movie with the most questionable brand of comedy, if deservedly a cult one. Why was it that surprising that his Twitter posts from when he was younger have the same brand of humor is a bit beyond me.

I knew that superhero fatigue everyone is talking about got me when I never like Logan (2017) that much when practically everyone loved it. It revealed that people foregot other movies easily, because it was criticized for what Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2008) were bashed, like exact same plot points and decisions. Granted, Logan was not a bad movie, but hardly anything that new or original.

It was not new or original, it was realistic. When Wolverine is fighting samurais in a PG-13 movie we get bad movie.

When you get a less invincible Wolverine that dies for good at the end you know first that Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jack were happy to finally live the movies series that last 17 years.

Second, you notice that this movie is grounded in reality.

Moviemania, welcome to the poll board.

In order to suggest a poll, you have to make a list that would become the poll.

Reading the following should be helpful:

You could still make a list for this one (then it could possibly be published as a poll). You may want to consider Stephen's comment below, though.

How do you figure that Joker as being on the same level of crowd anticipation (most anticipated movie of 2019) when it didn't break $100M in its opening box office tally like 3 other films (that wasn't Endgame) from 2019?

The Lion King (2019)
Captain Marvel (2019)
Toy Story 4 (2019)
Statistically speaking, these three movies had a higher level of anticipation in the moviegoing population than The Joker.

I like endgame but the hard truth is that endgame doesn’t have what it takes to be better than a masterpiece that is JOKER .

Plus, MPAA is not federal that means that the theaters don't have the obligation to follow the MPAA rating for a movie, but if they don't they lose credibility so most of them follow it

cinephile,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_Picture_Association_of_America
The Motion Picture Association is an American trade association representing the five major film studios of the United States. ...

If a US movie theater does not follow MPAA guidance for film ratings, the theater will likely lose access to films covered by the MPAA.

But since 2019 is almost kuputsky, you kind of need to put the question in past tense.

These were the most anticipated Marvel and DC movies of 2019.

It is the most discussed and voted suggestion, but it is not possible to make it go live without the list.

Then perhaps the threads could be merged? It seems all this interesting discussion and comments should belong to the live poll thread, and this won't be useful anymore.

we can't compare them as both of them are two opposite sides of spectrum.I would rather say Joker is an ART but Avengers Endgame is a MASTERPIECE.
