Simply a follow up to Jen's great post; there were getting to be so many pages in that one I thought it could use a refresh.  Happy to carry on the tradition!

Terminator: Dark Fate, 6/10.  Not the best movie ever, of course, but pretty good within the usual Terminator fare.  :)

Judy (2019) - 7/10. Ok film, but the acting is really good. I have seen all Best Picture nominees so I'll try to fill other categories, unfortunately it will be impossible to watch all actresses since it doesn't seem Harriet will be released soon.

I did not see this movie with the hope that it surpassed the original but I was not disappointed either.

I saw the RiffTrax clip and LOST it when the characters wanted to teleport or something but were told that would be dangerous at the moment.  The guy went, "Huh," and Kevin riffed, "Somethin' to think about."  And they all laughed.  :D

:)  I like non-gory horror, and this wasn't a bloodbath; it was just not very entertaining.

On the subject of gory horror, I just watched Keep Watching (2017).

Not nearly as bad as its IMDb rating makes it out to be - it gets a solid 6/10 from me.

Batman Begins (2005) - 9/10, rewatch. A curious case where bad editing has a significant negative effect. Many moments early on are robbed of their weight because they end so abruptly; sometimes it's even hard to follow the dialogue. The fight scenes are incoherent, although this is also due to Nolan's weak choreography.

But even with these technical shortcomings, the story conveys a great urgency that is always present in the action and makes it exciting. The movie doesn't have much "comic book quality" and Gotham's style is toned down, but these are legitimate choices. I showed Batman Begins to my mother but kept the title a secret. She only realized it was about Batman 40 minutes into the movie. This way, you can appreciate what this character even is about in the first place, and realize which themes and struggles make him plausible. I love Tim Burton's fantasy-noir aesthetics, but perhaps they would've been too much of a distracting spectacle in this case.

Call Me By Your Name (2017) - 10/10. Most movies convey summer by brightening everything with sunshine. But the stronger the sun shines, the more shadow there is. Perhaps it's the same with the kind of love that the movie shows, as abundant joy must also bring about the greatest pain.

Murder Mystery (2019) - 9/10

Great fun. I don't get all the crappy reviews on IMDb.

Maybe the Amazon-owned site has a vendetta against Netflix Originals.

Way more entertaining and fast paced than the over-hyped "Knives Out,"  which is a movie of a similar flavour.

That is a very interesting two-word summary of that movie and any movie period.

I personally liked it a lot, but I am a big fan of David Cronenberg, so I am biased.

Midnight Cowboy (1969), 6/10.

Great performances and soundtrack, but for me, it is somewhat confusing and not very enjoyable. I can sort of see where people are coming from with the high ratings though.

Last Woman on Earth (1960), speculative melodrama that killed all but three humans in the world with how boring and badly pretentious it wanted it to be. 1/10. 9/10 for the RiffTrax crew.

1917 9/10

I can not understand the critics who say that this movie has an empty script devoid of emotions, this film causes all kinds of emotions thanks to its beautiful cinematography, distressing scenes and an incredible soundtrack that i would dare to say that it is the best that I have heard in cinemas for a long time, 1917 is visually poetic.

Haven't seen it but what intrigued me hearing about it was the "long-take" method used (of course it was not one take, but still).  Don't think I've seen one of those; that's so fascinating to me.
