Hey everyone,

I had some additional questions that I couldn't find on IMDb.com, and I was hoping you could shed light on the subject. I have just completed a film and I'm about to submit them to a number of festivals through withoutabox.com, also I plan on putting the feature film on "Amazon Prime Instant Video." I was wondering if those outlets gave me the ability to have my title listed on IMDB.com.

Thanks,
Andrew

Getting shown at a festival would certainly be a big help.

You can see the inclusion criteria here:

www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?titleelig...

Being on Amazon Instant would tend to tick these two boxes:

Released on video or prints have been made available to the public (See exceptions below on limited distribution titles).

Listed in the catalog of an established video retailer.

So I don't think you'll have a problem.

I've added a number of small films and obscure older, foreign titles and had no problems demonstrating eligibility. If you can demonstrate public interest in your title through the links you add, then that will tend to be enough and recent films have an advantage here as even the big film websites are always hungry for material so a good hook and/or a popular genre (there are lots of sci-fi and horror film sites) will often be enough - just do a bit of publicity.

All of which would be more than enough to ensure you get listed, in fact that might be a little over-the-top, but I prefer a belt and braces approach as I don't want to waste my time submitting a film.

So yes, you should be fine.

Ok,

So your saying that continuing the route I'm going down with this movie. Such as releasing it and having it on Amazon Instant Video and a number of festivals will be more than enough to get on IMDb.com

I'm assuming thats what you mean by
"Being on Amazon Instant would tend to tick these two boxes"

Yep, you are doing everything right. I assume you are going to do a round of publicity too a some point. So as soon as it gets accepted by a festival and the publicity kicks in, then you should be fine with a submission (although you might be able to submit earlier - I'm not sure what kind of coverage you've already got - if there is some then I'd submit now).

If you are submitting to festivals via Withoutabox, I believe that you will receive a invitation to submit the data directly to IMDb, so you don't need to rekey everything.

I am not sure when exactly you will get the invitation, but possibly when your film is accepted to a Festival.

Films submitted from Withoutabox have, I believe, a very high acceptance rate, as the Festival acceptance is deemed to cover the 'public availability / interest' requirement.

Yes DavideAH_Ca, I just read that when you submit to a IMDb qualifying festival as soon as they receive your film, you get invited and its an automatic title page. Well at least thats what I've read and been told recently.

And yes Champ I am going to be publicity, I'm happy to hear that I'm on the right track and that all of these outlets will get me on IMDb.

Thank you all for answering my question, You have help 10 fold.

I'm sure you have heard of Indiereign.com (its a VOD service for indie filmmakers). The film that I have been producing will be released via "indiereign.com and Amazon.com via DVD" when i'm adding a title, should I submit those two links from indiereign.com and Amazon.com when adding the title.

Thanks
