I have been using the app on my iPhone 5 with no problems. But they bought an update out and ever since then it won't let me access the app. It just turns off automatically. What can I do? I use the app on a daily basis and would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Not sure, but, did you try re-installing it?

Ah...well, maybe staff can look into it. They're not too active on Sundays so it might have to wait until tomorrow. Good luck!

I had the same problem for a day or two but then it started working again.. try to re-install it, and then don't open it until you've restarted your phone. that should help :)

As I said to felix... I tried that again and nothing, it won't even let me restart or re install. It says I have it you know?? Cos I do have it but the app still looks all black and it just does nothing at all. Not even delete, it's so weird & it happened out of the blue :( it's a real bummer. I miss it!! I can't believe I can't even delete it and reinstall it. Perhaps I over used it. It's still dark/black and dead as ever. Please help me!! I really love it. It's my fav and most used app!! I think it's a hardcore tech problem. Thanks, Kelly.

Hi Dean,

Please can you check for recent crash logs from the IMDb App?

After syncing your device with your computer, check either ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/ (on Mac) or C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Applecomputer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/ (on Windows).

There should be both a .crash and .plist file (same names otherwise) that we want.

Thanks!

Sorry not a massive computer geek. So once I access that file. What am I looking to show you? I'll try when I get back home anyway

Several Crashing bugs were fixed in the latest update (3.3.1). You might try updating.... possibly your bug has been fixed.

Which version of iOS is installed on your phone? I assume you already tried re-starting the phone (turn it off an on again)...?

I'm using IOS 6.1.4. Yeah tried all that. I guess I'm going to just wait for 7 to be released. That might solve it

Dean,
Per Ann's reply: send the entire crash log file to imdb as an attachment. Email it to "iphone@imdb.com" no need to open it.

I'm unfamiliar with iPhone, but on Android phones you can clear an app's stored data from the settings menu of apps. Many apps don't delete its data when uninstalled, since it can include personal data that users don't want to miss if they later re-install. If the error you're experiencing is due to corrupt data files they might not be affected by a re-install. Try to look for a "Clear Data" button for the app, or even try to connect it to a computer and look for the data there (which may or may not be intuitively named) and delete it, then try again.
