indian movies in top 250

Suddenly, about 20 movies from India invaded the top 250. Until now, IMDb was controlling this absurd overrating of indian movies (coming from ratings given only by indian viewers), including only a few of these movies on the top 250. Now, apparently IMDb is not counting only ratings from regular users anymore, and top 250 is no longer a reliable list. Please, IMDb. Care for credibility. There are good indian movies, but the top 250 is a global list, originated by ratings given from users around the world, and it is not good that movies rated only by people of one country make it to the list. Thanks and sorry for my poor english.

As documented on our site, the Top Rated chart is based on weighted average user ratings calculated via a mechanism that also includes various countermeasures against vote stuffing and other remedies against attempted vote manipulartion. This is one of the reasons why there is sometimes a discrepancy between the user rating displayed on a film's page and the user rating shown in the Top Rated chart for the same title.

Unfortunately, due to a glitch introduced in a recent software update, the current list includes titles and rankings that should not be featured in the Top Rated movie chart. We are aware of the problem and we are working to address it so that next time the chart is generated and published it will not include any incorrect or ineligible entries.

Thanks for your patience while we work on resolving this problem.
