One of the most important aspects to our favorite films is the soundtrack. It can uplift you and make you, provide you with an eerie feeling, or even bring you dread.

Which film below selected by the members of the IMDb Poll Board do you like most?

Great idea!  For now, I choose the soundtrack from Top Gun (minus that song Tom sang in the bar, lol).  I may change it to Miami Connection though, lol.  :)

I suspect that your Miami Connection name drop was a facetious one. Did you really want that as your pick over the insanely popular (rightfully so) Top Gun soundtrack?

Well, Top Gun is really great (Take My Breath Away & Danger Zone, oh, yeah!), but let us keep in mind that that soundtrack also includes Goose and Maverick's rendition of Great Balls of Fire!...  for the sake of fun, I'll stick with Against the Ninja and Friends!  There's only 8 on here so far, perhaps MovieSmith will let us all pick one more.  Then it will be Top Gun.

Choosing from a non-musical, I'd say Rushmore.
If we include musicals: Quadrophenia.

Added Rushmore. I think I'm going to limit to non-musicals.

The question should be ‘which soundtrack do you like the most?’ because this poll is about soundtracks and not about favorite movies.

I added the title from 1986 - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091530/ - I think this is the one you are referring to. If I picked the wrong one, let me know and I will gladly change it. Thanks for contributing.

Then this is really difficult for me to choose. To help me cull down the megalist of favorite soundtracks, I will self impose the limits between scores and song based soundtracks.

To bring up something kinda unrelated, I want someone's quick opinion on this song performance I just saw... good or terrible?  Don't want this to be a huge discussion and take away from MovieSmith's idea, just curious what other people think:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEG3kVlDfbw

Arbitrarily picking from the relative random list of the following choices (based on the simplest of Advanced IMDb searches of movies I've rated over the past decades).

These are song based soundtracks (not score based soundtracks) to help whittle it down considerably.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
A Prairie Home Companion (2006)
Magnolia (1999)
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

I guess I'll nominate Amy Mann's focused Magnolia soundtrack... if you please.

Thanks.

I was really thinking about FYC'ing some of my 25 most favorite films, but then I remembered the front runner for 26th or 27th (now that I'm 27 I'm really thinking on expanding the list yearly or once in a few years) which has the most perfectly eclectic soundtrack ever:
Lost Highway (1997)

Leave it to
David Lynch to have Angelo Badalamenti and Trent Reznor  to compose original score and then use songs by David Bowie, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Lou Reed, Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins... With all of that paradoxically fitting together like a glove.

I am most impressed by both the stand alone success of the songs and its integration into the film of these two movies.

1. Purple Rain Poster

The film is tied into the album of the same name, which spawned two chart-topping singles, "When Doves Cry" and the opening number "Let's Go Crazy", as well as "Purple Rain", which reached number two. The film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The soundtrack sold over 15 million copies in America alone, and 25 million worldwide.[9] The film also coincided with spin-off albums by The Time (Ice Cream Castle) and Apollonia 6 (their self-titled album).

2.Across the Universe Poster

The soundtrack includes seven songs from The Beatles (also known as The White Album), five from Magical Mystery Tour, five from Abbey Road, four from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, three from With The Beatles, two from A Hard Day's Night, two from Let It Be, one from Help!, one from Rubber Soul, and three other non-album singles.

Standard edition track list
  1. "All My Loving" — Sturgess
  2. "I Want to Hold Your Hand" — Carpio
  3. "It Won't Be Long" — Wood
  4. "I've Just Seen a Face" — Sturgess
  5. "Let It Be" — Mitchum, Woods

Yes, I think that is best, as both the Purple Rain movie and album were released about the same time. The number of tracks on the album to chart is impressive

I mentioned Across the Universe mostly because it is an intriguing movie with an amazing soundtrack, but the movie came long after the songs were established hits.

I would have voted another, but it's nice you've put it in. It's
the music of a whole generation. The 80s are still strong.
