Poll Suggestion: IMDb Poll Board User's Fictional Remakes by Other Directors

  • (Edited)
Based on the highly interest of the Poll Board users, I created a second, only to 35 options limited  list.

Intro:

I guess there is no movie dude, who never thought: "This movie should be
remade". If there would be a nowerdays remake of one of these titles below, except for a new cast, a new director would have to be chosen. The director can be chosen on different matters, e.g. showing a new view on the story. Which of these fictional remakes below would you most likely want to be made? Please pick your favorite remake by also considering the mentioned titles of the filmographies and - of course - the mentioned benefit of it. Free your mind here. This is the second part of this fictional remakes series.

Rules:

Every user has 2 suggestions. Please only serious suggestions. I will deny suggestions if I think it doesn't fit. Convince me with your good ideas, please. It doesn't cost you to try! ;D

Charlie's Angels, 2019.

Actually, please change my director to Arlene Sanford (director of A Very Brady Sequel).  I think she has the talent for wit and great 70's humor, also without making it too raunchy.

Looks like an experiment. Well, Charlies Angels never were that hard action like Jason Staham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger. I guess NIA wanted a more funny than action packed version. That's ok by me. But NIA, MAthePA is right when he thinks that a strong lack of action might be too less for many people. ;)
Maybe you even would choose another candidate later?

Thank you, Breu.  :)  She just did great on nailing Brady Bunch; I think maybe combined with the talents of the rest of the crew, she could do a hilarious job spoofing 70's Angels!

Breu,
you can move my Beast Must Die idea to this list.  It's one I'm pretty passionate about, and I think it would fit in this list best.  Plus it will free up a spot in the other one for someone with a more popular idea to use.  Thank you.  :)

Yes, ok. But first I have to find another option for the first list. That's because I declared it as full and ready to go. Give me some time. I'll think about another movie I'll put on the first list. Afterwards I'll put your 'Beast'-suggestion to the second list. :)

Breu, I'm back and I have a great idea that occurred to me after seeing these two movies and comparing them for no reason, I hope you like it as much as I do.

Jumper (2008)
Director wish: Josh Tank
Former Titles: Chronicle
Benefit: A more developed story with deeper characters, who really feel the use without control and excess of powers creating internal problems in the most interesting characters with a philosophical essence

Thank you both. I will consider your suggestions. But please give me a little time. It's again very hot here. We actually got the next heatwave. Today it's 29°C, means 84,2°F - but in high humidity. Maybe tonight, when it's colder, or tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

I think your idea is pretty good. NarniaIsAwesome asked me to move one of his/her ideas to this list. Do you wanna join my 25-list with your idea? I would put your suggestion to the 25.. list of same ideas, if that's ok for you.

I see you want to change an anime to a photorealistic movie. That's not the subject. It's more about making filmed remakes of formerly filmed movies. I know no one else who would change the work of Hayao Miyazaki. Sorry, but no.

Film: ALIVE (1993) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106246/
Director: Frank Marshall
Wish: Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu
Benefit: a larger-than-life story that also starts with an accident (a recurring theme in Inarritu's films) bringing many characters together and forcing them to transcend their capabilities for better or for worse... the original film while good in its own right didn't get the reception it deserved and might garner many complaints for its non-Hispanic main cast, surely that wouldn't be an issue with the Mexican-born director.

By watching movies you can dream, but when they end, you're back in reality. We often passionately and vividly discussed about the fantasies we saw. We know they are not real, but it's fine to dream about changing the movie a little in our minds.

Well said.  :)

I wish it would have been 80°F at night. Todays peak in G was 108,68 °F, Which means 42,6 °C, half steamy. When Germany has tempratures like the Mojave desert, something went wrong! I'm glad I was not at the place where the peak happened. Climate change is real!

So After these records, it's stated that climate change happens.
108°F is normal at Mojave, but not in G!

I really like this idea. How fun! I don't have any suggestions now but ideas are percolating; I would love Sean Baker ('Tangerine' among 'The Florida Project' other less known films) to remake... I'll have something soon. : )

Breu,
if you could, please change the wording of my Charlie's Angels movie not to say 'less action packed," but rather, "less hardcore."  Action is fine, just not the serious stuff - think the goofy Starsky and Hutch movie action.  :)

And add to The Beast Must Die, "Possibly part of Kenneth's new Poirot films."

Thanks.  :)

Sure, lol!  :)

On my Charlie's Angels idea, change the wording to:
To make it less hardcore, but more funny with 70s centered humor.

And for The Beast Must Die, change the wording to say:
The story would be told more fluent in a faster rhythm with better monster action and the dialogues would get more to the point; possibly make it part of Branagh's new Poirot films.

Hope that makes more sense.  :)

 Metropolis

Director:  Fritz Lang

Wish: Christopher Nolan

Former titles: Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception, The Prestige,

Benefit: The film would have better special effects and wonderful shots but would remain silent, it would pay homage to German Expressionism

That would be a good date, but that poll idea this is just a fictional view on it. German expressionism, hm. It's officially made in Gemany, but note that Fritz Lang himself was not really German. He was born in Austria-Hungary, when those two countries were united in a kingdom. Now both are separated and democratic. It really was filming in a time when the Weimar Republik was the form of government. It was a special time that never will come back. The movies between WWI and WWII had a special aura of prediction. I hope if Nolan would really do this, that it shall not be a further prediction.

I added your suggestion. Thank you, Cinephile.
