IMDb improvement suggestion: individualized filtering or weighting for rating display

With the huge amount of people now rating movies (and not only movies actually) on IMDb, the score of each movie has become rather meaningless. It would be great to have an option for each user to activate an individual filter or weighting system for movie rantings in order to display a more meaningful rating for that specific user.

One way to do that could be to use an algorithm that gives much more weight to votes from users who tend to rank movies similarly to the user (attributing more or less the same rankings) or who tend to give votes to (thus actually watch) the same kind of movies.

For example, if I gave an Avenger movie a 3/10, I want to see the ranking of the following Avenger movie given by other users who also gave a bad ranking to the previous one, not the average ranking, which reflect mostly the opinion of Marvel action movie fans, who always give Marvel movies an 8 or a 9.

Also, when I look at the page of an independent, artsy and slow movie, I don't want the displayed rating to reflect the opinion of action blockbuster fans who already gave a rating of 2 to another Independent, slow movie that I ranked 8 or 9.

Being able to select other users and get average ranking from these users only could also be an interesting option.

Rating fillterning or weighting would be a great feature for me, and I guess for many other users who use IMDb to find out about movies they would enjoy watching.
