Hi, michael graham. What is the make and model of your device? What is the operating system and its update version? What is the version of the copy of the IMDb App you are intending to use?

Sorry, correction: my Device is an iPhone 7+, and is fully updated (IOS 12.1.4). I used to have the IMDB App on my iPhone, until a few months ago it refused to open. Just now I re-downloaded the IMDB App and found myself confronted with the exact same problem. Two possible issues 1) I live half the year in China (but this time round I am using a VPN, doesn’t seem to make any difference) and 2) a few months ago I bought a second iPhone 6 in Portugal where I live the other half of the year, and downloaded the contents including Apps from my iPhone 8. I attach a screen shot of what I get when I open the IMDB App.

Hi Michael,

Can you confirm if you have updated the IMDb app to the latest version? (v. 9.6.1) 

If you are on the latest version, please write us back with the following so we may investigate further:

- Which specific iOS devices were affected? (Device version and iOS version)
- Do you see the same result when using a strong WiFi connection to open the IMDb app?
- Did you also notice this while using the mDot version of IMDb? (https://m.imdb.com/)

I am on version 9.6.1 of the App. Devices affected iPhone 7+ (IOS 12.1.4) and iPhone 6 (IOS 12.1). No difference with strong WiFi. mDot version , which I didn’t know before, works fine, but when I go from there to open in App, same problem. It seems this is a specific problem linked to the App. I tried deleting IMDb-related website data from Safari but doesn’t help.

Hi Michael,

Our engineering team has confirmed that this, unfortunately, is a known issue. You can access the IMDb app in China with a VPN, but our network performance is poor and load times are long. The team has taken the feedback and is investigating ways we can improve performance.

First of all, make sure the settings on your device enable the IMDB App. On the iPhone go to the list of Apps at the end of the settings menu and check the App can use your WLAN.
