Oct 13 update: we've released a new Android version (7.2.0) with updates to reduce the frequency of notifications, make it easier to turn them off, and fix some bugs. Thanks for all of your feedback!

Original post:
We’ve updated our push notification options, now available on Android phones and tablets, version 7.1.4. This version will be rolling out over the next few days.

You can receive push notifications for a variety of topics. Choose from Tips and Tricks, Featured Trailers, New in Theaters, Trending Now, and Awards and Events News.  Update your notification choices anytime by tapping the profile icon on the top right of every page, then visiting Settings.  Notifications will also display inside the app.  Look for the Notifications tab available from the homepage.

We no longer offer the ability to select “Notify me” on specific movies, TV shows, or people, and we’ve retired Box Office Mojo notifications. Also, notifications are not yet available on Fire Tablets.

We’ll be improving our notification options further in the next few months, and look forward to hearing your feedback. Thanks for your continued support of IMDb.

These notification type are less personalized than the “Notify me” ones were. So sad. This is probably to reduce their costs. I see this as a detriment to the notifications rather than an improvement.

I too am disappointed. That was the primary purpose of me using the app. I wonder if I can set up some way to automate the process using keywords and post dates...

Does this mean the "notify me" option nevel will come back? Thats so sad, as it was my favourite part of the app, as i knew for certain that i knewabout it if one of my favorite actors/acresses where featured in a new movie.

Have to say, I'm really disappointed the "notify me" section has been taken away, it was one of my favourite parts of the app and made it stand out. As other people have said, I used the app daily and now I feel I've no reason to keep it as I can just do an internet search for the same information. A serious lack of personalization and desireability, please bring it back or loose users
