Re: Matthew C Hart - Hart, Matthew III -  (Editor credit)

The film is Identity of the Soul starring Vanessa Redgrave. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1570358/

I was one of two main Editors. The other was Ewan Lawson.
They have accidentally listed the colorist (Matthew Troughton) as an editor. (He is also listed as the colorist, which is correct)
Here is the official website which does correctly list me as editor:  http://www.identityofthesoul.com/Identity_of_the_Soul_Film_Credits.html

And my IMDb page is http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2051412/

Best, Matthew

ps. A separate issue is that I am always credited as "Matthew C Hart" but there doesn't seem to be a way to bring my middle initial into my IMDb profile - is there??

Have you submitted the credit for consideration?  If so, how long ago?  If it was recent, can you provide the submission ID (you can find it on this page-from "Site Settings" page, "view my contributions"- http://www.imdb.com/updates/history ) from which staff can take a look at the status?

Also, have you supplied any proof/evidence of the credit?  The best would be a screen capture of your name appearing in the on screen credits.

If there is an editor listed who should not be, it could be when submitted, the wrong name was typed in and it should have been yours.  You could submit a request to correct it to your name and explain he's the colorist and credited that way and it should be your name.

To change the name on your page, go to your page and click the "Edit Page" button.  Use the first choice, "Name Correction and Merge" and change "no change" to "Add Correction." Scroll down and click the "Continue" button.  Enter into the name field, "Hart, Matthew C."  Uncheck the box to preserve the "Matthew Hart" or the credits will inaccurately state "as Matthew Hart."  It seems all but one of your credits is currently wrong since, if you've always been credited as Matthew C., those should all have said "as Matthew C. Hart."  But if you uncheck the option, they'll all say "Matthew C. Hart."  If you've been credited differently on any title, you can edit those to say "as..."

I hope that makes sense!  Let us know if that doesn't cover it.

You're welcome!

Yeah, the "C." should help a lot for making sure your credits get to your page when there are multiples of names with same spelling.  Any bio or trivia you can add to your page helps too, so that credits find there way to the right page.

You can always upload a screen capture to posts on this board, and note the submission ID number,  to get them attached to your submission (upload by clicking the camera icon at the bottom of the text box), or upload them to a pic hosting site and provide the link via this form http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/data_verification.

Maybe staff can look at that submission and see if there's a problem, but you might want to just re-submit it and then add the evidence as described above.  Since submissions take between 2 days and 2 weeks to process, it seems that submission was not accepted.

Re the name change i can't seem to get it to work. When i do as you instructed it checks for similar names. My only option then is to select the one that is mine: Hart, Matthew III or tick the box that says "none of these - create new name  Hart, Matthew C."

So i selected the one that is mine: Hart, Matthew III (as I don't want to end up with 2 IMDb pages right??) but instead on correcting the name it comes back with a red "rejected -
  • This correction has no effect.
The corrected name is identical to the original name and has been rejected as a result."

Oh yeah...I hate that step.

The "create a new name" is the correct one, even though it doesn't sound right.  It's one of those things where, in most cases it's worded right, but sounds wrong in a "correcting a name" situation.  Sorry for that (i hope they change it!).  But yeah, you should definitely  choose that option!
