I can't get my new title listed. It is shot and is post production. We do not have 3rd party listings yet since we have not sent out press releases. However I have provided a link to the film in process (password protected). The film is in a 2 hour cut. (This is a documentary.)

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for your message concerning how to add a new title to the database.

The details of the format of titles, the eligibility rules and the option to actually create the new title are included in our New Title guide:
https://www.imdb.com/updates/newtitle

Please read the above guide carefully and pay special attention to the 'eligibility criteria'. Additionally, note that we require a minimum amount of information on a new title in order to verify its eligibility and existence.

More details and frequently asked questions about submitting a new title can also be found on our Adding a new title guide:
https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/adding-a-new-title/GNXTSSVTJTF...

If the title you want to add is still unreleased (i.e. in development or in production) there is also a separate In production or development guide worth looking at:
https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/how-do-i-add-a-project-that-s-...

IMDb retains the right to reject any work whose eligibility according to the rules is dubious or/and not verifiable. This may include works which are in their very first development stages. They may be rejected at that stage but accepted later on when they are actually finished and released.

Please use the contact form, here if you have any further questions or queries.

Thanks,
Charlie

Charlie, the film is shot and is post production. While there is no press release or third party web site to verify this, I provided a password protected link to the work in process, a 2 hour cut of the film. It exists.  It can be verified it exist. IMDB can see the film in process.  There needs to be a "none of the above" way to validate that a work exists.

The IMDB site says these are the two ways:

Provide one of the following:

  1. In the "Miscellaneous Link" section of the new title submission form, add links to third party sites detailing the production.
  2. In the "Explanation for missing information" box at the top of the new title contribution form, add additional information detailing your case for your title to be listed on IMDb.
I have added additional info--I have provided a link to the film itself. It is in process.

Hi Mitchell,
If you have an IMDbPro account you can add your title as 'In-Development' and progress from there.

Thank you for your suggestion. The film is in editing, "In development" is a few steps before. I have already shot it. We're in post production. I don't generally post about works that are in the funding or development stage.

Tom, thank you. I tied your idea (above) and I end up on the same forms. The problem is that IMDB does not humans reviewing their machines. No people seem to read notes and they make it impossible to reach people. I think my proof (having a cut) trumps having a press release. One is real and the other wishful thinking.

Mitchell: I'm sorry to have to belabor the obvious, but if you send out press releases, it seems likely that doing so would enable you to get a Miscellaneous Link to cite. Assuming you are Mitchell Block (I) from https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0088753/, I would think that some media would take notice of your new film once you announce it.

I find this system of posting a poor excuse for customer service. IMDB needs a better way of contacting a person so problems can be fixed. Our film is editing. We can provide a link so it can be seen, or confirmed. Why isn't that enough?

I tried. The system will not allow me to contact their editor. The "email" link does not work.
