How can I stop country specific recommendations and news feeds from popping up on my home page?

I keep seeing film news specific to my country appearing in the 'latest news' section, or recommendations of movies from my country in the 'what to watch' section.
How can I tell IMDb that I am really not interested in geo-specific optimisations? I don't want my IMDb home page to look like the entertainment section of my local newspaper.
There needs to be a way to fix this.

Hi Shreya,

Are you seeing this only when logged into your IMDb.com account or when logged out as well? If it is only when you are logged in to your account have you attempted yet to first change your setting for:  "Hide television listings" under general site preferences. Also, have you attempted to change your zip code to different, preferred one under your accounts details: https://www.imdb.com/registration/details .

Finally, if none of that has success have you attempted to limit your browser's cache and cookie security levels to see if this has any positive results on it not generating location specific content?

If none of that has  an affect please reply back and provide a link to where you are see this most.

Best,
~Kurt

Hi Kurt,

Thanks for the reply.

I am seeing this when I am logged in and when I am logged out.

I have changed the setting for 'Hide television listings'. Didn't help.

I have tried changing my zip code. Didn't help.

I have tried clearing browser cache and cookies. Didn't help.

I have also disabled location tracking for any site on Chrome. Didn't help.

This is happening on all the browsers that I have tried.

Would really appreciate a solution.

Hi Kurt,

I am pretty much facing the same problem and have tried all the suggestions that you had mentioned in your reply. Is there any other way to turn off these country specific posts?

Hi Rustywho,

Can you please tell me what specific country you are in related to which specific news you are seeing? Providing this information will assist us in investigating further.

Best,
Kurt

Hi Kurt,

I'm from India and almost entire top shelf in the home page is dedicated to Indian movies. I have added a screenshot as well for your reference.

If you have any feedback regarding this please provide it in the thread linked above.

Thank you,
Kurt

Sure, Kurt. Thanks for pointing me to the correct forum. However, are there any plans to disable (or provide an option to disable) this feature sometime in near future?

Hi Rustywho,

I, unfortunately, have no further information to share regarding any future plans for the IMDb.com India homepage at the moment. However, please note anyone future releases or updates will be announced in that thread I have linked above (and below).

Hey,

Really, shouldn't we have the option to decide whether or whether not we want local stuff featured on our homepage? I just moved to India after living in the United States all my life and cannot speak Hindi or even begin to understand it.
