Has commenting been removed from lists?

I used to keep a private IMDB list of movies and TV shows of a specific characateristic. Some of them were obscure titles didn't actually have an IMDB page, so my workaround for this was to add a comment with the missing title/release year at the bottom of the regular list, where there was a comments section (even for private lists).

Now all of a suddent this option seems to be gone, along with all my previous comments (with titles)! This isn't device specific - it's the same on my laptop using Chrome as it is on my phone with the IMDB app.

Can anyone think of a way to for me to at least access my previous list comments?

And when checking list settings now, it seems that the only way to edit comments is to make the list public - this does not resolve the problem I described (I can still no longer access previous comments nor leave new ones), but I wonder why even make these two settings (public/private and comments/no comments allowed) inverse?
