Genre issues again!

My film https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6298264/ has been listed as a short, action, crime, drama and thriller genre film while actually it's just short, action. It's not a crime/drama/thriller film.

I submitted a request to remove those genres, but in vain:

181114-083516-079000
181030-141427-605000

Please sort this out.

Prashant,

using the https://contribute.imdb.com/contributions/history tool, what reasons were given to turn your request down? (only you and IMDb staff can view these contents).

Hi Prashast -

Please be aware that the inclusion of the genres: crime, drama, thriller, and action are subjective.  If there are numerous scenes in the film that contain these genre definitions and if they are a driving force of the narrative, then they will need to remain listed on the title.  If you disagree, you are welcome to submit your removal request again with a detailed explanation and our editors can take another look.

I understand what you mean but it's my movie! and I know what genre it comes under. To make it simple, this is a short film just about a fight and nothing else. There's a little dialogue but nothing like drama. No criminal activity is shown or even planned. And for thriller, there is no suspense in the film. The film is in itself just a fight scene with an intro and conclusion. That's all.

But if that's not enough, let me just submit it again.

And those three genres are by no means the driving force of the film.

It's your Movie. But it is IMDb's Database not yours.
If a critic writes a review and you don't like it because he said it was a crime/drama/thriller film, do you ask the critic to rescind his review? Of course not!
Once you put something out in public it is up for thousands of interpretations.
You must learn to live with that if you continue to do what you do.
Your Film
Not your Database.
Just an observation that you might not see clearly.
Cheers
Happy Holidays.

By saying it's my movie I didn't mean to dominate. I only wanted to say that I've made it and I've been following genre guidelines since very long.

Not meant in that fashion.
This is a free and open database.
The Database is free to interpret or categorize any way they see fit.
It is open to suggestions.
But it reserves the right of the final say.
The database does not tell you how to make a movie.
So don't tell the database how to run a database.
It's really that simple.
Cheers
Thanks.

What exactly are you trying to say? I'm not "telling the database to run a database". I don't really have a problem with a movie of mine listed with five genres as long as the main one is there. All I'm asking here for is deletion of the very minor ones or sub-genres which are present in very minimal amount. Does that mean if I'm asking anyone for help here, I'm trying to act smarter? Then why do we exactly have this section? I've submitted the updates again, if they approve it, it's fine. If they don't, then I'll let it be. I'll try it after months. But please don't try to prove that I'm telling someone how to act.

But I don't get who will do that? I'm not popular enough to get a review done by anyone. I know a film is open to interpretations but facts are facts. I won't have a problem if my film actually fell in one of these genres but if it's not, then I surely can object. Still, the thing that's still satisfying is that at least no one tampered with the action part, because this film is anything but action.

Hi Prashast,

You added the keyword crime-drama to the title in the past, did this not apply to the title? I can see that you have resubmitted the deletes now so please allow time for these to be processed.

Regards,
Will

Or maybe I did it sometime long ago when this film was not ready. I did actually plan to make it as an action-crime-drama movie but later on switched to just action. I guess that's where I got it wrong.

Adding stuff like that before a film is about to be released is not wise.

I know it's my fault. And that's something I now avoid. That film was made two years ago.
