Frustrating contribution declinatures

How frustrating to see that many contributions are declined because they can't be verified, along with the question to prove it. For years I only contribute data right from the movie credits but there is no way to prove their correctness. So, if one cannot contribute data that IMDb cannot verify, what's the purpose of it? If one can only contribute data IMDb can verify, they can just as well add the missing data themselves. Conclusion: there's no way to enrich de database with details IMDb don't know or can't find. So IMDb, in stead of wasting my time with this, without getting trust over the years, I would say, sort it out yourselfs.

I guess IMDb has the right to ask where does the credits/info come from. Meaning the links/sources/etc.

I mean if the person can’t answer that question (it’s a pretty basic question after all), there’s a good chance that the info cannot be verified. At least, not by that person. Someone else could then find more proof/sources and eventually the credit/info is added.

The question is 'proof'. As far as I know, simply telling the data comes from the credits is not a 'proof'. And I suppose not all movies are available to IMDb to check the credits afterwards. :-) So, to collect unavailable data, some trust seems indispensable.

I agree, it’s opaque and not explained properly in the Help section.
I hardly bother anymore, as I feel my time is wasted by inadequate processes.

(staff hardly answer any threads in these forums either... so why bother?!)

The current main issue, is the lack of an explanation box on image submissions. So even official images from the source that fit within guidelines get wrongly declined repeatedly, without me being able to link or add explanation.

IMDb are certainly not bothered they're wasting submitters time having us repeatedly submit > wait > decline > submit > wait > decline..

FWIW, for closing credits and similar, I’ve used https://sendvid.com to send the closing video credits mp4 file to them. Then they have no reason to say they can't verify them.

Hi Marc, if you have a specific submission please leave the reference number here. Otherwise, if a submission is declined it is because we either need a more comprehensive explanation, or you need to submit further evidence.

Hey Banjo.

I have never been banned unlike you
You conveniently delete your accounts just ahead of the community moderators.
You are a site troll.
You only come here to agitate.

you were banned 3 times. They are the FACTS.
Yes correct. After I voluntarily admitted that I was using an account and was Edwin Jones III, an account you neglected to mention. I wanted my good name back on this forum. What you neglect to mention and what you dont ever bring up is the thousand or so "LIKES" by IMDb Staff, including Col Needham himself.
I have nothing to be ashamed of.
IMDb erred. I came forward and they graciously repaired the error.

The ONLY thing that bothers both of you......yes you too Jimmy........is that I will not do anything but point out the truth. And for persons such as you the truth stings.

I have known you long before the first ban
An out and out LIE. The first ban happened in less then two weeks. There is NO WAY you knew me prior.

The reason for the first ban was simple. Colorful language. Period. I have still maintained my integrity throughout.

So the two of you have no valid points nor has your lame attempts to point out anything other than your own abuse of this forum and Jimmy your abuse of the staff and I.

Jimmy please know that my desire to help is genuine. You are just an alpha personality. Nothing wrong with that. But it does lend itself to difficulties in having a reasonable dialog.

Banjo please know that your participation here would be greatly appreciated if you did not create a profile and disappear as fast as you came.

Both of you. It would be nice if you did not hide behind a fake name. I do not.
The one Champion that came here to talk to Jimmy who uses his "Real" name was summarily dismissed as his advice to you, which was based on common sense was ignored because it was noticing your "Over the top" behavior.

NO sirs I have Zero to be ashamed about , nor have you embarrassed me at all.

But you both need a mirror.

That is name calling and is against policy.
Heed your own warning. Jimmy please know that my desire to help is genuine. You are just an alpha personality. Nothing wrong with that. But it does lend itself to difficulties in having a reasonable dialog.
And Jimmy, Banjo is only here because you did this. He comes out to "pile on" when he sees these things. So it is 50/50 on you and me.
You stop commenting to me directly. I will stop.
I need not reply to the troll Banjo.
I have replied to him already and need not address him further.
Balls in you court...

Banko, it is public knowledge that Ed opened new accounts and it is also public knowledge that GS banned him rather than IMDb, which was a mistake they eventually corrected. Hence Ed combining all of his three accounts into one as it got solved.

Please do not twist the facts.

Hey Banko was Banjo, Nikolay. He does this every time. Halfway through his drive-by comments he makes a minor change to his name so as to throw off Get Satisfactions and IMDb's moderators. It makes him hard to track. He know just how to work the system for maximum stealth effect.

Now I want to enter for Cowspiracy (2014), Original Music: xTrue Naturex (as on the credits).
Result:
This credit has been rejected. You need to correct this credit before it will be accepted.
  • One of the main parts of Naturex, xTrue starts with a lowercase letter and is therefore invalid.
This credit has been rejected. You need to correct this credit before it will be accepted.
  • 'Naturex, XTrue' contains combinations of characters which are not permitted in IMDb names.
UNBELIEVABLE!

Unfortunately, not all updates can be submitted by the usual means without the assistance from an IMDb editor. My suggestion on how to handle this is listed below.

1. To get around the red error messages, submit the musical group this way:

Xtrue Naturex

Acknowledging any yellow error messages you will receive.
The updates should be in green and ready for submission.

2. After the submission has been approved, processed and completed, file a report through the IMDb's Contact Us form.

Include the following information in the form's explanation box:

- URL of the IMDb name page with the incorrect lettering.
- A description of the correct way the musical group should be credited.
- If possible, a URL of the official website or other sites confirming the correct name of the group.

You should receive a message from IMDb by e-mail.

I hope this helps.

I have exactly the same experience. A name in the cast is spelled wrongly (among other, minor flaws). I keep submitting this since 6 weeks. I am director & producer, so I should know. And of course one can take it from the credtis, from the film's website etc. etc. I will submit an original post, maybe staff will answer.

jimthing, just so you know: I consider deleting your copy-and-paste answers.

I understand that you have a disdain and frustration, but if you can't formulate it in at least two differen ways, you should probably restrain from answering further.

Where are the IMDb staff? They are rarely responding to requests on these forums??

e.g. Yet another re-submit request:

Yes Marc Engels I agree with you I've been trying to get the Doraemon credit vandalism removed off of Doraemon (2005), Doraemon: Nobita's Secret Gadget Museum (2013), Doraemon: Nobita and the Space Heroes (2015), Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Treasure Island (2018), Doraemon: Nobita's Chronicle of the Moon Exploration (2019) but the imdb staff refused to accept the deletion numbers I've submitted to them.

Also with Shimajiro I've been trying to get the credit vandalism removed off of Gekijouban Shimajirou no wao!: Shimajirou to kujira no uta (2014), Gekijouban Shimajirou no wao!: Shimajirou to ookina ki (2015), The Shimajiro Movie: Shimajiro in Bookland (2016), Gekijouban Shimajirou no wao!: Shimajirou to niji no oashisu (2017), Shimajiro and the Rainbow Oasis (2017), Shimajiro and the Rainbow Oasis (2018), but the imdb staff refused to accept the deletion numbers I've submitted to them.

I don't know what's been going on as I have done my research for those Japanese Anime Films and I've seen them. I need the imdb representatives to come do a credit deletion clean out for those Shimajiro and Doraemon pages because those credits are an incorrect cluttered mess caused by an imdb prankster.

So I'm with you Marc Engels, I'm sorry you're having a hard time fixing your imdb pages. I only hope the imdb staff will start listening to my requests to approve the deletion of the incorrect credits off of the Shimajiro and Doraemon Anime imdb film pages and listen to your imdb fixing requests good luck Marc Engels and I hope they'll believe me soon.

jimthing, I can get your frustration, but Ed Jones(XLIX) is indeed a very helpful user of this community.
He is not a stalker, as he is not concerned in you, he is concerned with database's integrity and interests. I'm saying that because calling someone a "stalker" is a serious accusation. It should not be thrown around any single time someone is getting on your nerves being an active member of the community you're in.
With all due respect, I'll be the judge of that, given I and others across these forums are the victims of their responses.

Given their absolutely abysmal behaviour on here. Giving smarmy and/or lying false made-up answers to posts me and others have asked, along with a history across threads of doing so, and not leaving me or others alone when I specifically and definitively asked them to – all is self evident of their lack of trustworthiness or decency in their behaviour.

And as for IMDb staff not taking action, words astound me, completely unprofessional.

jimthing, with all due respect, most "victims" are "guilty" of something in the eyes of others, hence them getting into arguments in the first place. For example your affinity for copy-and-paste answers could be viewed as spam-like behaviour and clutters notifications of many people. It's easy to deem other's discussion habits uncivilized and be totally oblivious of how your own look like. If your updates have the same affinity for emotional punch and copy-paste elements I can see where something went wrong and why your updates might be either harder to process or being categorized as such.

Not to mention, that while I get your frustration over situation, you're too emotional about that. I often get my own acting listings declined when I add titles with them being only things declined out of whole title. Imagine how frustrating that could be.

Clearly you do not understand. Leave it.
Oh and BTW, in case you were not aware, victim shaming is not appreciated either. That kind of thing gets levelled at victims of rape by idiots, "oh the victim must have done something to deserve it"?! No they do NOT.

All the users who have complained about this user, do not have to justify our troubles with them to you. His actions are across many threads, not just mine.

When asked to go away by all of us (politely or otherwise, most people obviously get frustrated dealing with someone who completely ignores their request to leave them alone !)...they come right back again.

That is called STALKER behaviour. I don't care what excuses you try and make for them. There are none.

Look how much time their behaviour has taken up on here today. He likes it, because he is a complete troll. Being a troll involves stalking users with continual comebacks, despite them being asked repeatedly by other users to be left alone.

I think it's good they're getting more serious about edits and additions people make, because if you haven't noticed the entire database is damaged due to lazy management. I tried entering a completely nonsensical plot for a film once, just to check I entered like '7492734djbkjfhaksd hdkjahd8', and it got approved after a few minutes.. Of course I changed it back but that tells you they weren't exactly keen. And the TV-movie/TV special madness was only fixed 6 months ago:
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/tv-movies-problem-found
and only after I mentioned it..

Asking for proof is a good thing, you want data to be correct right? You can screenshot the credits and upload them to imgur. But let's hope that's only necessary for later corrections.

What this site needs is more staff members and for the few people 'higher up' to listen more to their contributors who are doing all this work voluntarily.
Cheers!

It sounds like the system has become mainly automated. That poses a severe risk because a computer can't tell if it's being lied to, but a person would be able to work it out (not immediately, but at least eventually).
