Firefly Episode Order

  • Not a Problem
The order of episodes given for the TV series Firefly is not in its intended order. The episodes are listed in the order that they were released by Fox, which was not on good terms with creator Joss Whedon at the time of the release of the show, and released the episodes in the incorrect order. The intended order as listed in the DVD, BluRay, and on a number of websites (some links at the bottom) is:

Serenity (parts 1 & 2)
The Train Job
Bushwhacked
Shindig
Safe
Our Mrs. Reynolds
Jaynestown
Out of Gas
Ariel
War Stories
Trash
The Message
Heart of Gold
Objects in Space

I know this seems like a matter of semantics, but for any viewers that have not scene the series, they may appreciate a correct episode order.

Here are some sources confirming the episode order:

You are right, and wrong.

IMDb's policy is specified in Submission Guide: Episodes which states :
Episode number: The episode number should be in the form season.sequence - in other words, the third episode of the fifth season would be 5.3. Sequence number should be based on original air date, not production order. In this case "Episode #5.3" will automatically be generated for this episode number providing no other information is added in the title box field on submission.
Note the phrase "Sequence number should be based on original air date, not production order." Normally this is not a problem, but Fox totally fouled up the sequence in the original airing and IMDb (pretty well uniquely) uses this order. Therefore the order is not the proper intended sequence, it is correct by IMDb's regulations,

However, there is a Trivia item on the Series page that gives the 'correct' sequence and a FAQ titled
What is the correct order of the episodes?  that does the same thing, so people are shown that order in two places on the Series page.
