My film submission is being rejected due to another film having the same title. The bots are rejecting the title even when I select 'continue with new film/not an existing title'. How can I get a human to fix this?

Do you mean that you can't submit it because it is rejected by the form or that you have submitted it and you got a message saying it was rejected?

Yes. The form completes and allows me to select 'this is not an existing title' but rejects every time and tries to assign it to another film with the same name. It's stuck in a loop.

I'm not sure why that would happen. Can you give details, such as the title?

Could we also get a screenshot of the errors?

I wonder if by this "tries to assign it to another film with the same name" is just a confusion with the idea that if there was already a "Hornswoggle (2013)" then the system wants to call your film "Hornswoggle (II) (2013)." Or some such.

The title is Retribution. Release date is 2014. There is already a film for that year and name. When select 'create new title Retribution (II) 2014 it accepts it but immediately bounces back in red stating the film already exists and tries to add it as an update to the existing Retribution.

This happens every time.

Could it be that one of your attempts actually worked? I did a search and there is indeed a Retribution (II) listed.

Got a link for that? I can only find one Retribution from 2014:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2380285/

One thing that occurs to me - do we know that isn't the right film already? I don't have access to IMDB Pro so can't check, but it is always possible someone else has already added it. I'd imagine with the same title and cast/crew the system might not allow that to go through.

There is a name page Retribution (II). I can only hope that isn't related.

The film Retribution (2014) has director Chris Nahon and writer Richard Crawford listed, among others.

Yes, I stand corrected: Retribution (II) is a name page, not a film title:

Hey, no that director and movie are different! It won't now allow me to add my movie. Every time I select 'create new listing for Retribution (II)' it accepts and submits it but I immediately get a rejection receipt rating that the movie already exists an is the OTHER Retribution (the one with Chris Nahon directing).

It is stuck in this loop...

This is weird, hopefully staff can chip in.

As a last resort I'm happy to give submitting this a go (you'd need to provide the credits, of course) but I'd like to wait for staff input first.

Can you give us the submission ID? Staff can look into this then.

I do wonder how much information you are adding - if they accept the submission I'd have thought there is enough information in there for it to be obvious they are different beasts. Did you just add the minimum amount to get the system to accept it? Did you do anything different to get the system to accept the submission this time around? Just shots in the dark, I'm afraid, but something might rattle the solution loose.

Hello. I was looking for answers for my problem when I came across this topic. The film I'm submitting has the same title as another film. Both are shorts. The problem is, it's now combining both into the same entry despite the fact I ticked 'this is not an existing title. My submission nb is130717-110400-696000 (which the latest update).
The director's name is coming up as part of the other film which is currently being shot, whereas the film I'm referring to has already been screened. What seems to be the solution as there's no particular email or number I can use? The staff are even calling the sound studio to verify the existence of the film 'shot in Greece' which is the other film. We are based in Australia and this is starting to cause embarrasing problems. Appeciate any help.

Rather than tagging this onto this thread (which is about a separate issue) can you provide more information on the thread you started about your problem?

Hey guys looks like it was rejecting due to a bad link on the form but it wasn't flagging up as such.

Glad to hear it is fixed and thanks for checking back in to tell us what resolved it - you can guarantee you won't be the last person to have this problem, so it helps to know what the fix was.
