Fifties/Sixties science fiction TV episode about brain implant

Looking for a TV episode of a black and white science fiction series (I believe it was a TV series, not a feature film) involving some US secret agent or pilot recently implanted with some experimental probe by government scientists. This implant in his temple flashed, I think to prepare him for some highly classified mission. He was not allowed to think a certain thought to avoid a consequence of some kind (death perhaps). Later he regrets volunteering for the mission, but is unable to have this implant removed, and warns other volunteers the danger of this procedure. At the end, another operative is revealed to have volunteered for the same mission, implanted with the same probe. Been a long time since watching this episode as a child, and the name of the series has been bugging me for a long time. It’s not from The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits, I’ve seen every episode of both.

Never remember seeing that series before. That sounds more fantasy and mystery. I checked every episode plot summary and didn't find anything resembling what I am looking for. Thanks for help nonetheless.

I remember a black and white series, Science Fiction Theatre is in colour. Again I checked the summaries of both and found one or two possibilities, but nothing really stood out as I remember it. I just may have to buy the DVD set and watch them all some day, as many of the episodes do appear worth watching. Thanks again.

Could it have been an episode of Thriller?  It's a Twilight Zone-like show only I like it better.  :)

No, what I'm looking for wasn't on Thriller. I read the storyline for each episode and nothing matched. Thriller was more horror/fantasy than the science fiction show I'm seeking. Thanks nonetheless for the reply. And you could very well be right, I've only seen one episode of Thriller (The Innocent Bystanders) but comparing it to The Twilight Zone, Thriller had much better pacing and tension.

Maybe it was in colour and you saw it on a black and white TV?

Nope. Saw the first season on DVD a while back and what I'm looking for definitely wasn't The Invaders. That was produced in the late 60's, when fashion was inspired by the hippie subculture and feminist influences. What I saw was more was styled more conservatively, late 50's or likely early 60's. Someone else made that suggestion here long ago before he removed his account and postings. Nice try anyway.

No, not that one either. I saw many of those on DVD as well, and One Step Beyond is more fantasy/mystery. What I'm looking for was science fiction. It may have been Thriller hosted by Boris Karloff, but the storylines of each episode as per IMDB don't ring a bell to me.
