Hi,
I was trying to add valid external reviews for this documentary but the system
keeps rejecting it with an error of "URL is not valid." .  I even tried taking off the http://, www etc. still get the error

Documentary
URL: http://www.imdb.com/updates/update?load=131210-181800-475200

I was following the format IMDB specified.  e.g.
http://www.thelondonfilmreview.com/film-review/review-no-fire-zone/
[Priyanka Mogul]

Secondly, more importantly, this documentary was made by the Award-winning British Channel4 news. The 'storyline' for this entry in IMDB is obviously bogus even though the documentary got selected in many film festivals.

Can anyone create an entry in IMDB? if so how do we prevent them putting bogus STORYLINE?
Thanks.

To address your first question, when submitting this External Review, you should submit http://www.thelondonfilmreview.com/film-review/review-no-fire-zone/ as the URL, but you should submit The London Film Review [Priyanka Mogul] as the Description. If you just submit the reviewer's name in brackets in the Description, the submission will be rejected. (I can't view the update at http://www.imdb.com/updates/update?load=131210-181800-475200 myself -- only you and the IMDb staff can look at your updates.)

Next, I notice that this film apparently has two separate entries in IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2949516/
No Fire Zone: The Killing Fields of Sri Lanka (2013)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2910328/
No Fire Zone (2013) (TV)

I don't know what the correct version of the entry should be. However, if you let me know how it should be listed, I can advise you how to merge them.

Finally, can you identify which is the "bogus storyline" that you object to? I don't want to offend anyone by pointing to the wrong item.

(Whatever one's perspective is on the Sri Lankan Civil War, the factual data submitted to IMDb should accurately reflect the film. Opinions should be directed to the opinion-focused sections of the database.)

I've never added an entry in IMDB - can a regular person add entries for the above two or does it have to be added by the film-maker?

Most definitely a 'regular person' can submit additions or changes to the database. Much (if not most) of the data is added by people who don't have any particular connection to the project.

You can submit corrections; the important thing is to be sure that they are correct by IMDb's regulations.  It might be a good idea to check out related information such as the Submission Guides for the various sections before actually updating something. The Contributor Zone page has links to a lot of very helpful information, and should (in my opinion) be bookmarked by anyone submitting data.

Emperor,
regarding the comment you made, is that something a regular person can fix?

-----------------------------
It has been changed but there are still problems here:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2910328/

Unless the tagline is: "Not a single word, phase are true in this movie" - in fact there are two:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2910328/taglines

I also suspect the keyword "fake" should be removed.

Yep, IMDB data is crowdsourced, so an ordinary user account that has been verified can do it. Just click the edit buttons or links on the pages you want to edit.

Gromit82,
for some reason there is a 2nd entry for No Fire Zone, that has 'fake' in its TAGs.  is there way to remove this duplicate entry?

Indeed, this is a contentious issue and the plot outline has to be a neutral summary of the contents of the documentary. However, the one written by "A Sri Lankan" seems to be someone making a point, not describing the documentary. I'd recommend removing it - I can get it from the archive there, so could rummage up a replacement.

Any IMDb user can submit a film for listing in the database. In fact, a large number of the titles in the database were submitted by regular people rather than by the filmmakers.

The new titles form begins at http://www.imdb.com/updates?update=title and continues through several screens. The process of submitting a new title is difficult at first, but people who stick with it generally find that it gets easier as they become more experienced.
