I already reported most of it, but IMDb should really look into these trolls vandalizing these kids shows’ Parents Guides.

I wonder if this happened when the page was still a wiki.

The cool thing about the swiki is that IMDb registered users could view the edit history provided that the swiki page being viewed was not locked and did not have "Imported by bbsadmin" as the earliest history item.

Hi abdurahman49,

Thanks again for reporting. We've already removed the items adding further protection to the title to prevent this from happening again and taken further internal action against the users responsible.

Regards,
Will

Will: The parents guide for a title that is still at an "announced" stage, as is the case for Untitled 'Shrek' Reboot (????), should not be available for editing by users.

Since the film has not been made yet, contributors have no actual knowledge of the film's content. Nor do parents need to know the film's level of sex & nudity, violence & gore, profanity, alcohol, drugs & smoking, and frightening & intense scenes now -- it will be years before the film actually shows up in theaters. And even if parents did need that information now, the contributors inserting speculation into the parents guide aren't actually being helpful.

In fact, the parents guide for any title should be locked down and unavailable for editing until the title is at least at the "completed" stage.

Thanks for the report, we do have certain steps put in place internally but unfortunately this one slipped through the net. You can submit a valid parental guide credit for an unreleased title if it is part of a franchise for example.
  • If the title you wish to submit to has not yet been released you may add information based on previous titles or trailers however please include specific information as to where your assumptions have come from i.e. (based on the trailer) or (based on the first 2 films).
I've fixed the data in this case and dealt with the contributors.

Regards,
Will

Shrek 5 still has a large number of users who are claiming that the sex/nudity, violence/gore, profanity, alcohol/drugs/smoking and frightening scenes are severe. This is a clear case of brigading (i.e. a number of users colluding to vandalize a page or harass a user).

Will: Thanks for the additional information. However, I am concerned that when IMDb opens the parents guide for editing for as-yet-unreleased films, in hopes of receiving informed, plausible speculation, the site is also opening the parents guide to edits which are just trolling and false information.

Hi J and gromit82 -

We have filed a ticket with the appropriate team to review the Severity ranking on current unreleased titles (such as for "Shrek 5"), and are considering making changes to disable this ranking until a title has been released.  As soon as I have an update on the outcome, I will relay that information to you here.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Dora and the Lost City of Gold Parents Guide.

imdb.com/title/tt7547410/parentalguide

All the sections now are voted “severe” by trolls/bots. IMDb really needs to delete the votes and look for who’s responsible.

Same thing is happening on the Parents Guide for PINOCCHOI (2002) with Roberto Benigni: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0255477/parentalguide. (Although far fewer bots have been employed.)

First, why was this merged by Joel, they are different titles.

Second, does IMDb have a solution for this vandalism?
