don't know how to submit screenshot 'evidence' with character name change

I'm submitting an update (correction) for a character name on a TV show, and I have a screenshot to support my correction, but I don't know how to submit the screenshot so that it is 'connected' to the name change submission. (The online form doesn't have a screenshot or 'submit picture' box.)

Yeah the submission 'system' on here is creaking in annoyance. Sure it’s complicated, but compared to other sites' submission processes (where multiple factors can all be done at once - e.g. credit ordering while actually adding the credits!), it’s ridiculously difficult. And hence why most casual users beyond the hardcore members, just don't want the bother. :-|

Anyway, upload to a service, and copy-paste the link into your explanation box on IMDb:

vid: sendvid.com
pix: imgur.com

And yes, an upload feature for both would certainly be a better solution in an age where storage capacity isn’t as much of an issue – especially if said uploads were deleted once accepted or declined (thus the submitter should keep the evidence until their submission is accepted).

But hey...there we are.

If you don't mind the image being shown in public, you could post the image here. Include the 18-digit reference number of the submission so an IMDb representative can review the update and respond.

If you prefer to provide the image in private and you have an account to a file-sharing website (Dropbox or Imgur are just two examples), you can provide a share link (URL) so only you and the IMDb representative can view the image.

I hope this helps.

Yeah but that’s a forum filling time waste. It should be added on the actual submission page’s explanation for the IMDb moderator to be able to instantly access during their moderation check.

Only come to the forums here for issues arising from said moderation process. Otherwise these forums would get full of "evidence" threads, that could be easily avoided.

Those links above aren't linking, here they are again:

Most all corrections have a little box you can check off that says, "Please provide an explanation"

Stick your notes and the

I don't use file-sharing 'services' for religious reasons (it's a metaphor). But, I don't
use them. If I have to go outside IMDb to sumbit evidence for an IMDb submission,
I'm going to pass (skip it).

As for the internal instructions, I received the following message in the Rejection
process, which gives instructions that don't work. (Specifically, after following the
instructions and going back to the Contribution History and re-loading the submission
reference and clicking "Check these updates" (actually, it says "Re-check these updates"), A field for providing 'evidence' is promised to appear. It doesn't.
Possible reasons: 1) I'm interpreting the instructions wrong; 2) I'm doing something
wrong; 3) the instructions are lying to me.

Here's the rejection, in toto. (NOTE that in my comment, I tell the moderators
that I have evidence and don't know how to include it; obviously the moderator
'bot doesn't read, or doesn't care.)

This character's name - Dr Siggy Lloyd - is shown onscreen on a poster advertising the book he is selling. (I have a screen shot, but I don't know how to include it in this submission.)

There is a camera button right below where you type in your responses. Click that button and upload the photo. You already have a reference number that you are trying to correct. That should be enough.

We're talking about on the actual submission page Explanation box. Not on here.

Well if you don't use these things, you're not helping yourself to succeed in your submission.

Everyone else has to use them (or even a Dropbox link, as previously suggested), so either get over it like everyone else manages, or don't bother submitting if you refuse to do so.

Moderators aren't psychic; they need evidence to accept changes. What else can anyone say if you're then going to ignore said methodology for adding it.

I don't appreciate being 'shamed' for declining to use 'services' that collect information and provide advertising to enrich themselves while they purport to help users. (The fact that IMDb does just that is beside the point.) I will take your (snide) suggestion and decline to submit when image evidence is required. IMDb's loss, I'm afraid.

Shamed? Hardly. Snide? Patently not.
You asked a question then didn't like the answer when you wanted another one.

Dropbox was also suggested, which is non-advertised, self-run account, methodology. Which you have ignored.

No one cares on here if you submit or not. Users submit voluntarily if they want to and follow various methods for doing so under the complicated systems for moderation that are currently in place – as were clearly explained to you. We’re simply users helping answer other user's questions with valid answers on how things actually work.

You saying you’re not going to follow said advice because of reasons that make no sense (wow, sites advertising on the internet that offer free temporary image/video hosting; who’d have thought it, given they have costs & don't work for fairydust!).

Get over yourself.

This kind of attitude is inappropriate in this setting. I trust IMDb staff will deal with this in a way that will be helpful to all.

How uncouth can you possibly be. Don't ask questions from other users if you don't want to listen to the clear as day answer that was given to you; all while complaining about it in the process. Grow up and stop being so rude.

jimthing I didn't meant that yours were bad, please don't take me wrong, English it's not my native language so please excuse if I seem rude or unhelpful.
I did try one of your recommendations, imgur.com, but it asked for an account. Sometimes it may be time-comsuming to create an account that you will only use few times, I thought a site where you just upload the image without creating account or logging in may help the OP, or whoever may need a service like this.
Cheers.

Don't worry, I know you were simply offering another option.

To be clear, imgur.com and sendvid.com do NOT need accounts of any kind. That’s the point, they’re simply 'quick upload, then copy the link' sites, meaning the idea you’re being mass tracked, simply ridiculous.
Like most of how the internet works on free services, they sell background adds to fund themselves, which as we all know, you just ignore, lol.

jimthing thank you for clearing that fact, I will try again with imgur.com, last time I tryed, to be able to finish the upload they asked me to sign in. Perhaps it was an "option" and not an obligation.

No problem, thanks.

PS: Yes you can have an account but it’s not needed and most don't. In browsers, see the top-left corner for the upload box. See attached screenshot. Same idea for sendvid.com.
