Does anyone know the name of an old black and white movie where a brother and sister travel to Europe, staying in a certain hotel, and the sister ends up disappearing. However when the brother starts searching for his sister, he goes back to the hotel where they stayed, and the layout of the hotel has changed and everyone denies knowing them or remembering them. I’ve seen this movie once and can’t remember it!! It’s really bugging me !

The description reminded me of a Hitchcock TV episode, and sure enough, that film was
Remade as
Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Into Thin Air (1955) (TV Episode)
but it's a mother/daughter who travel, and mama goes missing.

Yes, according to Wikipedia -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/So_Long_at_the_Fair -- the story has been around for a long time as a kind of "19th-century urban legend," and has inspired a number of works, including the Hitchcock episode and even an episode of THE BIG VALLEY titled "The Disappearance"!:

Awesome. Haven't watched Stanwyck in a while. Thanks for the link!

I've submitted a Connection between the 1950 film and the Big Valley episode. That should link all 3 of them together. (There's also a 1938 German film, but I didn't think that's what the O.P. had seen.)

And yet more on the subject -- perhaps more than anyone wants to know . . .
