Director (I) has on his page a nomination, award, and news articles that belong to Director (II).

A director's imdb page incorrectly includes a nomination, award, and several news articles that belong to a different director of the same name. The first (incorrect) director is (I) and the second correct director is (II). I can't figure out how to relocate these articles and awards to the second director's page. I already tried, in the case of the nomination and award, going to the award's imdb page and working from their, but the award's page includes a director name that links to the first director, not the second (correct) one. Any suggestions?

Jay: Please post the name involved and which nomination and award is assigned to the wrong person.

For the news articles, you should be able to submit the corrections. At the bottom of each news article on IMDb, there is a link labeled "Report a problem". Click on that link. A form will come up for you to report the problem.

In the form, select the Reason Type as "Attached to the Wrong Name/Title", for the Reason enter "See below", and leave the News Item as is (it should be the letters "ni" followed by a number). Then, in the Comments box, enter an explanation along the following lines: The John Smith linked in this article is the wrong one. The article links to John Smith (I), but it should link to John Smith (II) instead. Then click "Submit". On the next screen, click "Send Message".

Unfortunately, you have to wait at least five minutes between reporting corrections for news items, but the above is all you need to know about how to submit the corrections for news items.

Thanks so much, gromit. The nomination and award are mine: Jay Alvarez (II), but are incorrectly attributed to Jay Alvarez (I). Any advice with that one? Thanks again.

Jay: Okay, I probably should have guessed what name you were referring to. :-)

The basic idea is that you will have to submit a "Delete" for the nomination and award to the incorrect Jay Alvarez, and also submit an "Add" for the nomination and award for yourself, in the same submission. A plain "Correct" doesn't work for this type of correction.

Go to the award page at http://www.imdb.com/event/ev0000612/2014. Click "Edit page".

On the next screen, on the Awards & Nominations line, select "Correct/Delete". Click "Continue".

On the next screen, go to the two entries listed with Jay Alvarez as the recipient, and select "Delete" for each of them. Then scroll down to the end of the list of awards, after the last award on the page. Below that, there will be a gray box labeled "Add" with a drop-down menu to its right. In that drop-down menu, select "2 Win / Nominations". Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, go to each of the two entries for Jay Alvarez that are being deleted. For each of them, there should be an Explanation box. In each case, enter something along the lines of "I am Jay Alvarez (II), and I am the director of I Play with the Phrase Each Other (2014) and was the recipient of this nomination/award, not Jay Alvarez (I). I am submitting an 'Add' to enter the correct nomination/award in this same data submission."

At the end of the page, there will be two blank entries for the award/nominations that you are adding. I'm going to give you the entries in shorthand, omitting the lines you leave blank:
New #1
Award: Special Jury Prize
Year: 2014
Rank: Winner (1)
Number of titles: 1
Number of recipients: 1
Supplementary info: For original vision.
Explanation: See http://slamdance.com/AUDIENCE-AND-JURY-PRIZES-ANNOUNCED-FOR-THE-2014-SLAMDANCE-FILM. This is to correct the recipient from Jay Alvarez (I) to Jay Alvarez (II); the deletion of Jay Alvarez (I) is being submitted in this same submission.
New #2
Award: Grand Jury Prize
Year: 2014
Category: Best Narrative Feature
Rank: Nominated (nom)
Number of titles: 1
Number of recipients: 1
ExplanationThis is to correct the recipient from Jay Alvarez (I) to Jay Alvarez (II); the deletion of Jay Alvarez (I) is being submitted in this same submission.

Click "Re-check these updates".

On the next screen, in the entries at the bottom of the page, enter I Play with the Phrase Each Other (2014) for both Title #1's, and Alvarez, Jay (II) for both Recipient #1's. Click "Re-check these updates".

On the next screen, the two entries being deleted should both appear with green backgrounds, and so should the two entries being added. You should then be able to click "Submit these updates".

Allow a few days for the corrections to go through. Good luck!

Hey Gromit,

I hate to bug you again after you helped so much already, but I noticed that regarding the articles, only one of them was transferred over to Jay Alvarez (II) from Jay Alvarez (I). And regarding the nomination and award, the award is now credited to both people, and the nomination remains misattributed to Jay Alvarez (I).

What are your thoughts on this?

Again, thank you so much. It's been quite a while since the changes were requested, so I figured this isn't a case of delay.

I received a message from IMDB staff saying that they had corrected the one article that was successfully transferred over, but nothing about the other articles.

At this point, I forgot how many there were, because while most of them have been deleted from Jay Alvarez (I), only one of them was successfully transferred over to Jay Alvarez (II).

Again, thank you!
